The Wonderful World of Self Employment

Helping  to inspire people with Knowledge and Courage to pull away from their security blanket called JOB (just over broke) and find the Freedom that  Self Employment has to offer is the goal of this lens. I know what it is to be self employed now that I have been there for 28+ years and hope that this will move you to move forward.

 This is my passion but also my first attempt at this and am open to any suggestions. 

 

Self Employment...Are You Ready?

Maybe you are considering launching your very own business (on or off line) or buying an established business, certainly this is a very exciting time for you; the road ahead is paved with both excitement and risk. Nothing in the world of business compares to becoming your own boss in your own company.

Perhaps you are attracted to the promise of financial independence of running your own business, or the bliss of not having to answer to someone else as a boss, the dream of not being a slave to someone else 's rules (my favorite one) and limitations is a potent one. If you are considering striving towards this dream at the moment I imagine that you are carefully examining all of your available options that would free you from the chains of your present place of employment.

The dream might be strong enough but you must take control and be realistic of your expectations. The potential financial gain is very attractive but you must consider the cost of time involved, financial expenses and genuine effort involved in becoming independent.

Despite the promise of financial rewards and limitless opportunity you must realistically be prepared to accept the truth, that is that it could take some time till you see a profit.

Launching your own business, while holding down your present work is the wisest way to begin. But there are other options available, such as building an adequate financial savings account to carry you through the early steps in your own business. These savings must be strong enough not only to carry you personally through these days, but your business also.

You must also be aware that time is going to be required when launching your own business, and lots of it. It might sound silly having to mention a time factor where passions are involved, love is likely to drive you forward, but in the real world we do have other obligations apart from our future aspirations. Certainly in this world we have family and friends, and real commitments not at all related to our businesses. You must consider how much real time to have available to spend in launching your business.

Expendable effort is another consideration that must be taken into account before any business may be considered profitable. You really must consider how much effort you have available and the results you would expect to create from what you give. The truth is that you will be working for free some days, client hunting, marketing and yes, even free jobs, are all things that come with the territory if we like it or not. Some days will seem to be so much work and nothing to show for it.

This is why some people simply give up. This is where you will have to dig into your reserves and stay strong to the task. This is when you're working your hardest; it is a sad shame to think that you would give up now. Mentally it is a real challenge, but this is where the real entrepreneurs are separated from the wishers. Some will see these obstacles as something that will be overcome; others will not keep the faith. Some will succeed some will not. But if you stick with it the rewards will be there.

Here, if you keep on keeping on you will begin to see the fruits of your labors real soon, and then you will know, without a doubt, that it was all worth the work.

When you talk about business, small business or even micro business, eventually the talk always turn to making money. How to make it, how to make some more and how to make sure the business keeps making money in the future. Most often than not people are surprised by my simple answer:

If you are passionate about what you business does, you will make money. If you are only after making money, you won't.
We are not driven by making money, but by making a difference, leaving a mark. We can't wait to tell people about our "brilliant ideas", even if they turn out not so brilliant sometimes.
Greed is NOT the same as passion! So be passionate about your business and your customers will love you for it.

Conducting Internet market analysis is essential for both new internet business and also to existing business who wants to have an online presence. Internet market analysis should be conducted after finalizing the Internet business model.

Demand (count) is nothing but the number times that particular keyword was searched to find the product or to find the information of that product (gathering information on the product is a process of buying). Supply (popularity) is the number of web pages containing that keyword.

Step 3 - After identifying and analyzing the list of keywords a further general analysis is required to understand the whole demand and supply for your products/services.

Part 2:
Understand the Industry Trends and Size - After having done the initial demand analysis it is imperative to understand the whole market/industry. There are various research firms specializing in various industry segments like forrester.com, marketresearch.com, etc gives comprehensive information. It might be a difficult to task to know about the entire industry unless you have money to buy their reports, but they give few free reports and nuggets on industry trends and strategies which is of great help to take a big business decisions for small business owners.

Part 3:
Identify who are your competitors - Identifying competitors should not be neglected. It helps you to understand how they behave in the market, what product benefits do they offer, what are their pricing strategies. Conduct a competitor analysis to understand the hook and corner of their business strategies (both offline and online). At this stage it is recommended to just know who the competitors are. Systematic plan should be prepared to conduct competitor intelligence in the later stage.
