Teaching children to have high self esteem

It is important for a child to believe in themselves. How can you teach a child to understand the difference between being proud and being conceited? At what age does a child start to comprehend self confidence?
The earlier you begin teaching a child character the easier it becomes for them to fully understand the traits at an older age. A child may not fully understand what self esteem means but they know how good it feels to have a pat on the back.
Every child needs to feel special. They need an extra boost in confidence in order to believe that they are worthy. Self-Esteem Elephant makes it easier for younger children to relate to what having pride in yourself truly means.
Our organization uses worksheets, coloring pages, certificates, activities & more to reinforce what it means to have worth and respect yourself. By using animal characters children are able to relate more easily to core traits. Click the photo to see what products we have available to help teach children confidence.
"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."

Here's what Kellan Lutz had to say about self-esteem

Characters of Character: When a child feels proud of themselves, everything in life comes a little bit easier. They feel better about the person that they are and they want to continue trying to be the best that they can be. They take pride in themselves and their actions, which allows them to succeed in others aspects of their life. A lot of children don't have someone there to tell them that they should be proud of themselves and everything that they do. What advice does Kellan have to children who do not have someone in their lives to encourage them and tell them to be proud of themselves?Kellan: Even when we are alone it is important to give of ourselves - selfless giving always makes the individual feel better as there is always someone worse off.
Characters of Character: What does he feel his greatest accomplishment is in his life and why is he proud of himself for that?
Kellan: Using the platform I have to influence others to make a positive impact upon the world around them - helping, serving, giving whenever possible.
Characters of Character: Was there ever a point in his life when he didn't have confidence in himself?
Kellan: My Junior year I didn't go out for Varsity football because I didn't have much time and didn't think I was big enough. My insecurities hindered myself and I missed out, that next year I was determined to play football no matter what and so I did and it was some of the best days of my life!
Characters of Character: What advice does he have for children who lack confidence in their own abilities?
Kellan: Only when we sit around and do nothing do we truly fail. Any forward motion is better than doing nothing. We have been created with purpose in our DNA - the LORD desires each of us to fulfill that purpose and HE will help we just need to move.
