Self Help Tips

Many people suffer from anger management at some time in their lives. It is important to support anyone suffering from this problem and encourage them to find help whether it is from a self help book or audio or maybe the need for professional help in more serious cases.

Some people suffer from anger management issues for short periods due to many factors that we pass through in our lives, while others have more serious problems that could need the help of a qualified person in this area.

The reasons that people have anger management problems can be the result of many factors including the loss of employment, debt, relationship problems and much more. Normally when someone who has never shown signs of anger suddenly has problems it is as a result of an incident that triggers the anger.

Anger Management:Who Needs it?

Almost Anyone Can at Some Point in Their Lives

Anger management does not discriminate. Almost anyone may need help at some point. Cases of road rage, resentment, the end of a relationship, physical abuse, redundancy are just some of the reasons to cause a normally stable person to suddenly show signs of unusual anger.

Very often it is possible to resolve these situations in a short period of time just by getting some advice through books or perhaps attending a self help group.

Other situations may require more in depth help because of course everyone is different in how they handle situations.

Some are naturally aggressive in their driving habits for example. Road rage has become common today, perhaps as a result of more stress in our lives. A normally calm person who has had a stressful time whether at work or in their personal life suddenly jumps in their car and something triggers their anger.

If you have experienced someone cutting in front of you for example, depending on the emotional state at that time, it can produce very different results. Some will feel anger but continue driving, others will get into a fight or perhaps chase the car and this often results in tragedy.

Anger Management for the Victim

How to Control Anger After Being Victimized

There is a lot of pain in feeling victimized, but in reality, there is also some gain from the problem psychologically by the person getting a benefit such as getting out of certain responsibilities, receiving sympathy or getting support.

How to turn the situation in your favor is the secret to dealing with this.

Half the battle of overcoming being a victim is to get out of the mindset that makes that one's identity. You can then look at your environment to see what contributes to this. Do you have abusive people in your life that are overly critical, degrade you or put you down? Do you see a pattern in the people you associate yourself with? Are these relationships in your best interest? To change them you need to actually get a sense of your own willpower
which may contradict the passive feeling of being a victim you are used to having.

One thing that is helpful to work on is the underlying sense of "I can't", "I don't know how", I'm scared" etc. That is the OLD you, but the new you CAN DO and doesn't get defeated easily. This new you will grow and change over time and break down the unnecessary thoughts that kept sabotaging change.

What can you do with your past? There may be memories of abuses suffered. It may be hard to feel compassion for people who hurt you even if on some level you know their actions were done out of their own pain, unconsciousness or ignorance. Reframing things as being a survivor can help. Think about your future that lies ahead of you. Learn from what's happened in the past and spread this knowledge to others. Survivor is a phrase signifying strength and determination. The main focus is your own future and
time remaining and how to maximize that with a beautiful and full life ahead of you.

Remember to think of the future and what changes can be made to improve the situation.
