I am a self taught artist, in both traditional media and computer graphics. I started painting in oils when I was 14 and continued to paint for the next 15 years. But when my kids were born I didn't want the chemical cleaners around them so I put them away. But the urge to create was still there. At the time both my wife and I were full-time college students so the money was not available for me to buy commercial graphic programs. After searching the internet I came across the programs Blender and GIMP, both free programs. So during college my hobby became 3D modeling. I still currently use both programs for myself and in my "professional" job in an engineering office. Now it has almost become a challenge for me to see just how much I can do and accomplish without spending money.
