You already have 1,000s of Digital Photos - Make money from them!

Sell photos you already have

Sell your photos

If you have a digital camera that is 3megapixels or greater
you have a fantastic extra source of income right there!

Graphic Designers + Companies need photos,
for their websites, ads you name it.

And they need photos of simply EVERYTHING!

For example, when I created my sisters website I used photos
of Crayons, a typewriter, a wedding ring, a pair of chopsticks,
an old phone, kids blowing bubbles, a pair of old shoes, just to name a few...

So how does this make you money?

And what does it cost me? (Answer: NOTHING, ever! )

There are websites selling things called PHOTO STOCK -
you upload your fabulous images of whatever you have
found laying around the house and they sell them to
companies and graphic designers who use them in print.

The best bit is you get 50%-80% of whatever they sell your photo for, and your photo can be sold over and over again!

And it is FREE - you dont pay anything, ever - you don't have anything to lose.

The best photos can sell a couple of hundred times a month.
AND YOU GET TO KEEP THE COPYRIGHT for the image!!

So - how rich am I going to get?

Exactly how much

You're not going to get rich - sorry.
But it can give you an extra $50, $100, $200 a month -
for very little work (which sure would help me out!)

Usual rates are about from $0.89 - $3.89 every time your photo sells
so even if you sold that image twenty times in one month at the lowest rate
you would get $17.80 its ok, but not going to make you rich....

Ok, so now you upload 10 photos that sell twenty times a month...
now you have an extra $178.oo a month - that could sure help out, right? :)
What about 100 photos ... woah ... get the picture? :)
[oops - haha, pun not intended]

Super Duper Photo Tips

Super Duper Photo Tip #1

Tripod is your new Best Friend

Use a TRIPOD

They usually wont accept fuzzy images
(unless it is on purpose - like a ferris wheel turning or something)

If you don't have a tripod, put your camera on a stack of books -
I use the steps of a ladder when I don't have mine handy.

Anything stable.
Anything at all.

Just do it.

Super Duper Photo Tip #2

Isolate your images

Take photos of things by themselves on a white background

Graphic designers love images they can integrate into something else.

You need: a (clean) white sheet,
a couple of desk lamps
and some items you want to take photos of.

Push a table against a wall, tape the sheet to the wall letting it go over the table.
SO now you have a white background, and a white base.
Put your object towards the back of the table on the white sheet, put the two desk
lamps on the corners of the front of the table, facing the object. (So there are no shadows)
If you have globes that throw white rather than yellowy they are better.
Now...TURN OFF YOUR FREAKING FLASH. Snap away! :)

If you have the skill, go into paint shop, photoshop, whatever and delete the white background and replace it with, you guessed it, white.

If you are shooting a white object, choose a different coloured sheet.

HINT: CHECK REFLECTIONS if you are shooting reflective objects

Super Duper Photo Tip #3

Never Give Up

TRY, try, try again
So your photo isn't selling - so take some more!
So your photo wasn't accepted, submit more!

You will get there, and you will get better - just do it!

Here are some hot tips for photos that sell...

Ideas - 3 Hot Tips!

HOT TIP #1

Follow the news - Take Current Photos

What I do is look what is current in the news and take images accordingly.

The kinds of people that buy these images are: news websites, blogs and tv shows, etc

Yes, the best, popular blogs BUY their images.
They can't just flog them off google images like everyone else -
they would get fined. Who knew? ;)

CURRENT EXAMPLE: SWINE FLU!!!

Take photos of:
Boxes of tissues,
People rugged up with red noses,
Thermometers,
Tissues screwed up in a big pile in a wastebasket,
Surgical masks (and people wearing them)
Pigs... get the idea? :)

HOT TIP #2

Take Seasonal Photos

Take seasonal photos...

Summer?
Fishing
Surfboards
Beaches
Sunscreen
Tubes of zinc
Writing in the sand
Butterflies

November, December?
Santa hats, christmas baubles, christmas trees, palm trees with tinsle,
stockings, wrapped presents...

Easter?
Chickens, eggs, chocolate, rabbits, bunny ears, baskets with ribbon...

Go wild! Remember, these types of images will only usually SELL seasonally too,
santa hats photos are only being downloaded around christmas time

which leads to my next tip...

HOT TIP #3

Keep adding photos!

Keep adding new photos!

Those photos you uploaded will eventually look a bit dated, or may go out of fashion.

The pic of a group of chickens sitting on surgical masks you uploaded a few years ago when the BIRD FLU was going around probably wont be selling as well now that we have SWINE FLU
(though the photos of the surgical masks will be)

So make sure you always add lots of new photos,
of anything and everything!!!

Have fun - good luck!
Cheers, Kristy :)
