Calling all Crafters! Make money selling your handcrafted items on eBay
I've been selling my handmade photo albums and scrapbooks on eBay successfully for 6 years. I've learned a lot about eBay and online crafting, and I'm happy to share some tips for selling your crafts and making money.

Tips for selling your Crafts online and on eBay
1. Don't undercharge! Your time is worth money. Always consider your materials cost, the cost of your marketing (eBay charges fees) and your time. If you are only making $3 an hour, that won't be fun.In my craft fair days, we multiplied the cost of materials by 3 to get a selling price. But if your craft takes a long time, factor your time in at a rate you'll be happy with. If you make a quality product, your customers will pay for it.
2. Start with eBay. It's a great place to test the waters. When you name your business, make it easy to spell, memorable and available (that's the tricky part). Your user id, store name and if you can get the .com, get it, should all be the same, making it easy for your customers to find you.
3. Use keywords in your eBay titles. Think like a customer. What would you search for to buy your product? I sell personalized photo albums and scrapbooks. I use those words. But I also use words like wedding or new baby gifts.
4. Take great pictures and lots of them! Since your customers can't handle your product, good pictures let the customers see variations and angles.
5. Write a great description. Features are important but benefits are too. Give your customers a reason to want your product. It's a great gift. It's created especially for them.
6. Personalize your craft. Customers like unique. I personalize my albums with customer pictures. You can see them at Iris and Lily and my eBay store. So when creating wreaths, let your customer choose colors; for jewelry, they choose the crystal; cross-stitch on anything! It may take a little longer, but you can charge more!
7. Customer service is king! Treat your customers like you would want someone to treat your mother (unless of course you don't like your mother). I've made some friends and lots of lifelong customers because I talk to them.
8. If you have supplies around the house, consider selling some of that too. You can sell at lower prices to drive traffic to your handmade listings, and you can clear out some space in your bins for new stuff!
9. Enjoy! You know you are a crafter because it's a passion. How much cooler would it be if you could make money at it?? Trust me, it's cooler!
