If My 15-Year Old Son Can Do It, So Can You!..

True story: My son wanted a new paintball gun. Price tag? $300. Right before Christmas - and I had already bought all of his presents. He has two main hobbies - paintball and Halo. I told him if he really wanted that gun, he's have to earn the money himself.

Next thing I know he's plopped himself right beside me on the couch asking me if I could sell the lenses he had built on Squidoo.com (just for fun) to my list of buyers. They weren't the best lenses, even if I am a proud mom. He had less content than I like to see, and he talked in slang like a teen to teen giving playing advice for the game Halo.

But I said, "What the heck?" I notified my list of buyers that my son had built 3 lenses, gave them the stats about how much traffic it was getting (and he hadn't done a thing to get traffic to it - it just happened naturally) and was real honest about not having created it myself.

In under 30 minutes I had several buyers, but the first one wanted all 3 lenses. He paid $100 per lens, and my son got his paintball gun!

I am sure by now you have heard of Squidoo. If you haven't then all I have to say is, "where have you been?" Squidoo is one of the hottest sites out there right now! If you are not building sites to Squidoo, you are missing one of the quickest and easiest ways to build free traffic for your website or blog and make money with this phenomenon.

First, a little about what Squidoo is...

Squidoo could be called a cross between a blog, a mini site, and a My Space page. Squidoo calls the sites "lenses" and the people who produce the lenses are called "lensmasters."

Squidoo lenses are very easy to create. Even if you haven't ever built a website or blog before, you can have a lens up and running in maybe 15 minutes or so.

Squidoo lenses are made up of "modules" and Squidoo has dozens of modules to choose from. There are modules for making lists. There are modules for YouTube videos. There are modules for Amazon and eBay auctions. With a little knowledge of the module system, you can have your lens built in no time. Making money with Squidoo...

Squidoo offers you a great chance to make money from your lens. Squidoo makes its money from affiliate advertising with Google Adsense, Amazon, eBay and several other sites. They keep track of the earnings of each module and split 50% of the profits with you. You can also donate your profits of your module to charity if you wish.

Squidoo is very lenient about allowing you to use third party advertising on your lens. You can promote your own website if you want or promote affiliate products. Savvy internet marketers often use Squidoo lenses to promote their products as well as recruit new members and affiliates for business opportunities. Now that's good use of available resources to make money!

Squidoo lenses tend to rank very highly on Google, so it's a great way to build some backlinks to your website. It's also a very good way to get more traffic to your website. Just put up a lens on a topic related to your website and link back to your site.

One of the best ways to use Squidoo to build traffic to your primary blog is by using the RSS feed module. You simply load the RSS feed from your blog and the Squidoo lens will update automatically as you update your blog. Again, an easy way to get more traffic and make money.

The Amazon module is also a very easy way to make money for people that are new to Squidoo. For the case of Amazon products, you simply enter the ISBN number of the Amazon product and Squidoo will pull it directly off the Amazon website, complete with the photo and the price. You can also have the module pull directly from keywords if you don't want to take the time to find ISBN numbers on Amazon.

Another great money making Squidoo module is the eBay module. With the eBay module, you can select products by keyword or by seller. If you sell a lot of products yourself on eBay, this is a great way to get free traffic to your auctions.

In conclusion, it's not hard to see that Squidoo can be a very good free and easy way to increase your website traffic and make money online. So get out there and start Squidooing!
