How To List a Lens: A Step-By-Step Guide 

After Registering and Activating your account, You are ready to start listing your Squidoo Lenses for Free!! Don't Forget! The first 50 people to Register and list a lens for auction (any lens will do) will receive a $5 credit in their account!

Step One:

Click on 'Sell My Lens' and select the type of auction you wish to start.

Step 2 : Basic Item Information 

Fill out the Item Information and Your Location. Your Location is not critical to the auction(No Shipping on Lenses!) so feel free to have fun with it.

Make sure you fill out your Listing Duration (Up to 10 Days) as well as a title that describes your lens well. The only category available should be: Squidoo Lenses. Make sure and select it.

Next, Fill out your Lens Description. This is a great place to include traffic, earnings history, the theme of your lens and a link to it. Yes, HTML is allowed!

Don't worry about adding images, we'll get to that in the next step.

Payment methods are how the eventual buyer and you will transact funds. If you incur any fees from Extras or Final Value fees, these need to be paid with either credit on your account or through PayPal.



Next in line is the Shipping and Starting Price Information.

Make Sure and select ' No Shipping Needed ' as your shipping option. As of right now, there is no charge to give other members lenses!

Fill out your Starting Price (required). You also have the option to set Reserves and Buy it Now Pricing at this time.



Finally, Add some extras to your listing if you so desire!

Step 3 : Add Images to Your listing 

Almost Done!

Once you have confirmed that your listing details are correct, then you can add images to your listing! Up to 5 images, uploaded to my server, or hosted from yours. This can be any combination of uploaded or hosted pictures (it doesn't have to be all hosted, or all uploaded) Alternatively, there is a Java Uploading tool as well (This feature has been somewhat buggy so I reccomend using the traditional interface right now).

The History of SellMyLens 

What prompted this new Beast.....

After being a member of Squidoo for almost a year now, I have come to realize that when it comes to selling lenses, there just wasn't a good way to do it. No real data exists on lens value, as I've Explained Here. and selling lenses has been clunky (through the lens itself) or transaction fees have been extremely high (a la Ebay). At SellMyLens, I have tried to create a solution to these problems for the Squidoo Community. Check it out and see what you think! This is a learning experience for me, and hopefully learn as we go about making both SellMyLens and Squidoo the best sites that they can be!

In the Squidoo Spirit, I have created SellMyLens to be as close to the zero-cost model as possible. Unfortunately, I don't have VC dollars or Seth's pockets, But I got as close as I could. Here's the Skinny:

For the exact Break Down go to SellMyLens and click on Fees in the bottom left hand corner
  1. IF your lens SELLS then a 2% Final Value fee is added to the total. That's it, no complicated sliding scales starting at 5.25% like other Auction Sites.
    As Always and forever, putting your lens up there to see if there is any interest in it costs you Nothing!
  2. Adding extras to your listing start at $0.03. Image Previews and Counters are Free, as I don't deem those as extras, but essentials in an online Auction environment.
  3. Classified Ads have a Small Listing Fee Attached to them. This is to prevent Lens Spammers from having hundreds of Auctions that clog out the valuable lens that you want to sell!
