Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
The Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania is the largest wildlife preservation in the world. Covering an area the size of Belgium, Selous is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers visitors a chance to go on a truly 'wild safari'. The lifeblood of Selous is the Rufiji River which winds its way through the game reserve. The lakes and lagoons attract huge numbers of birds and animals. Hippo and crocodile are also plentiful.
Many of the safari camps in Selous are positioned along the Rufiji River giving visitor spectacular African sunsets as they relax after a long day on safari.
