SEO and SEM: Who Knew There Was a Way to Drive Traffic to Your Website Without PPC?

After being a business owner for 10 years, I had no idea that search engine optimization even existed. I had been told by many clients that my marketing was wonderful. Little did I know how much I was missing by not taking advantage of my website to drive qualified leads. What a shock to see how quickly a website could be ranked in the first page of Google by a knowledgeable seo consultant!

When SEO Became Interesting to Me... When it Affected My Bottom Line.

That consultant was a woman that I have known for ten years. We met intermittently at social functions, always chatted but really hadn't gotten to know each other. At one of these social functions, she started talking about her business- social marketing, search engine optimization and search engine marketing. Quite honestly, my eyes started to glaze over. I have never been a techie and have a low tolerance for things I don't understand. However, a little bit got through. I went home and looked up my website and found that I had an Alexa ranking (I did listen a little bit) of over 10,000,000. I am no genius, but even I knew that wasn't good.

SEO and SEM, When Done Properly, Achieve Outstanding Results

After that embarrassing trip to the internet, I learned that there was hope. I called Julie Ross, the internet marketing consultant I had ignored, and admitted that I might need to learn a little more about the process. After all, we are officially in a recession and I needed a cost effective way to market my website and my business.
What I learned was astounding and (no I am not being melodramatic) life changing. Fortunately for me, Julie had more business than she could handle alone so she asked me to help her during a slower time in my business. I welcomed the opportunity to learn from someone with a 20 year marketing history and a spectacular track record.
First lesson: SEO, SEM and Social Marketing are very time consuming when you are trying to achieve superior results.
Second lesson: The results are amazing!
Together, Julie and I were able to take five very competitive categories (where companies were paying up to $10/ click) and dominate the first two pages of Google within a month!
Who knew that was possible and who knew at our first meeting years ago that we would decide to build a company together that would combine our technical (and not so tech savvy) talents to help businesses achieve success and top rankings in the highly competitive world of search engine optimization?

    Love your writing style! You may not be tech savvy, but you sure have learned the correct definition and applications of search engine optimization.
