Send Thanksgiving Flowers For Their Table Centerpiece

Thanksgiving is a time when families get together and gather around the Thanksgiving Day table to enjoy a nice big meal and have quality family time. The meal takes center stage during this holiday and while it takes a long time prepare and cook and serve, it's often finished quickly and causes many folks to end up snoring away on the couch afterward. One lasting symbol of this great holiday, one that sticks around much longer then the meal, is a gorgeous Thanksgiving centerpiece that adorns the table to complement the look provided by all the serving dishes of scrumptious food.

What makes a special and popular centerpiece for the Thanksgiving day table? Flowers! A nice floral arrangement often makes the table stand out. A good point to keep in mind when you order and send your Thanksgiving flowers centerpiece is to go with traditional fall colors for the flowers. What colors do you often see on the trees as they change color? Well, you've got orange, yellow, red, and brown. Together, flowers of these colors will give a warm feeling of fall and the Thanksgiving holiday season that you want when you are looking for a floral arrangement to buy for yourself or to send to others.

Why You Should Send Thanksgiving Flowers

Send Thanksgiving Flowers: Thanks, Love, Appreciation

On December 11, 1620, the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. Of the 102 who were on the Mayflower ship that brought the Pilgrims to America, only 56 had survived by the following fall (1621). The others had perished in that first very difficult winter.

But autumn 1621 saw the first harvest, and a bountiful harvest it was! To celebrate, the remaining colonists - along with the Native American Indians who helped them get through that first arduous year - had a huge feast.

It lasted three days and consisted of geese, wild ducks, fish, venison, pumpkin (boiled), dried fruits, and a variety of berries. Historians are uncertain whether wild turkey was included in the feast because the term "turkey" was used by the Pilgrims to mean any type of wild fowl.

And so went the first "Thanksgiving". But such a celebration did not become a yearly event until 1863. A magazine editor named Sara Josepha Hale is the "creator" of the celebration we now know today as Thanksgiving.

What's more, Sara Hale pressed President Abraham Lincoln to declare the final Thursday of each November as day of prayer and national thanksgiving. Thus, Thanksgiving Day as an annual holiday was born.

These days, we think of Thanksgiving Day as a traditional day of gathering with family and friends, parades, watching football, and feasting on a huge meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and a host of other scrumptions foods! It's our modern-day way of giving thanks for all that we have each year.

Send your loved ones a message of thanks and send them some Thanksgiving flowers!
