Senior Citizen Flash Mobs - You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet

By way of background, I take care of my 95 year old Mom, Gertie, so, when I was looking for something amusing to write about, senior citizen flash mobs was at the top of my list. For those of you living under a rock, a "flash mob" is a preplanned dance routine where people milling around get together and start dancing. In the case of senior citizen flash mobs, it might be very s-l-o-w dancing but it's great regardless.

Now, when it's a senior citizen flash mob that you're interested in watching, you might as well grab a kleenex as you'll be laughing and crying like a fiend. I've found the best of the flash mobs on youtube and am featuring them below. I'll bet you can't watch these senior citizen flash mobs without laughing out loud!

Senior Citizens need to know how to dance before they can flash mob

Teaching senior citizens to do a line dance is the perfect way to start a senior citizen flash mob. Just have additional seniors come into the routine throughout the song and be amazed at the people who will stop in their tracks to watch the dance. Too much fun!

The best senior citizen flash mob ever!

These seniors got together in a Target store in Lawrence, Kansas and almost immediately shot to the top of the Youtube viewing list. Set to the tune of "Last Christmas," you have to love their hearts!

"Last Christmas" seems to be a particularly popular senior citizen flash mob choice but, if you're planning your own senior citizen flash mob, selecting one of these older songs might be a lot of fun. You can do a sing-a-long at the same time.

No it's not a senior citizen flash mob exactly but...

This is just the best flash mob ever.

I don't care if you love Oprah or hate her, this surprise flash mob in Chicago to celebrate her 24 years on the air is the best flash mob ever. It is well worth the watch.

Flash mob definition on Wikipedia

Wikipedia, that all knowing site in the sky, has a great article on flash mobs. Relatively new on the social circuit, the term "flash mob" was just created in 2003 to describe what Wikipedia says is "is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression."

Senior Citizen Flash Mob - Rap

Well, it's as close as a senior citizen might get to rap but this video is a fun flash mob in New York October 23, 2011. It starts as a very unassuming exercise class for senior citizens and evolves into ...well, watch it and see.

During their annual Halloween costume party, these seniors surprised the crowd by breaking into a flash mob. Very very cute.

This North Carolina senior group did a great rendition of "Last Christmas." I love the little woman all dressed in red. She looks like a Santa's elf!

    I'm smiling. I love the three senior men dancing to Billy Jean! This is a wonderful article--I didn't know about Flash Mobs, let alone Senior ones. I clicked on this article because I saw the photo again of your beautiful mother with her little dog. The best rule for life: As log as the music is playing, keep on dancing! (from the last line of the rap video)

I am my mama's keeper

I've been caring for my now 95 year old Mom, Gertie, for 5 years now and can say with assurance that it's both the hardest and most rewarding job I've ever held.
