A Random Act of Senseless Kindness
By South Sixty Five
I picked up the morning paper
The headlines were no surprise
A random act of senseless violence
Was committed again last night
It seems the whole world has gone crazy
And something needs to be done
So starting today, I'm gonna find a way
I'm gonna repay someone
With a random act of senseless kindness
Unexpected hand to help remind us
A little bit of love is the cure for hate
It's easy to give up but it's never too late
A single step in the right direction
Person to person making a connection
We can change the world that's become so violent
With a random act of senseless kindness
How I long to live the simple life
When neighbors were still friends
And the sidewalks leading downtown
Were safe to walk back then
The classrooms and the school yards
Were havens for our kids
Well, it's a long way back but we can get on track
Today's a good day to begin
With a random act of senseless kindness
Unexpected hand to help remind us
A little bit of love is the cure for hate
It's easy to give up but it's never too late
A single step in the right direction
Person to person making a connection
We can change the world that's become so violent
With a random act of senseless kindness
With a random act of senseless kindness
Unexpected hand to help remind us
A little bit of love is the cure for hate
It's easy to give up but it's never too late
A single step in the right direction
Person to person making a connection
We can change the world that's become so violent
With a random act of senseless kindness
A random act of senseless kindness

Acts of Kindness
Would it be better for the media to report more good news than bad news?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byIt would be good to hear more about acts of kindness.

Of course it would!! :) :) :) :) :) <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 I've had enough of being around mean people everywhere! I mean, I hardly see anyone being kind to someone else; they're usually putting someone down by calling them ugly, slow, etc. I try to be kind to everyone I meet, no matter what their personality, or whether I like them or not. It's like a rule of life for me. I refuse to be mean to people, and don't engage in conversation with those who are. This is why I hate watching the news, because they always show the negative stuff. At one point I even lost hope that there are any kind, nice, non-judging people left in this world. But this website is cool!! I know I can find kind people here, and be myself. It seems that nowadays, if you do a random act of selfless kindness, you are considered weird, because apparently, YOU don't get anything out of it, like money or materialistic things. Yay for this website!!!

Yes, it would be much better if they reported more good news. They only know that if they sensationalize the bad things, and grip us with it, that's when they make a name for themselves.

Random acts of kindness happen every day. Because they are good acts, know one talks about them. Letting someone go ahead of you in line at the checkout, Stopping someone to give them something they dropped, letting someone out of a parking lot onto a busy street. These are some of the everyday acts of kindness that most of us take part in. And yes, I think this makes the world a better place.

Yes I agree! Amy (an ex-girlfriend of my oldest daughter) use to change her cell phone greeting with messages of what people could do as "Random Acts of Kindness", it was so cute. Your lens so much reminded me of her messages. I loved to call and have her not answer... just to see what she would come up with for the day. Once she was on a rant about the police giving so many tickets for "errors" in driving but why didn't they stop "good drivers" and reward them with... donut and coffee gift certificates or other type of rewards. We see what we focus on... and that is why I don't read the newspaper or the news. I would love to see a "good news" newspaper published... where the reporters tell the world about the "random acts of kindness" and other happy and beautiful stories, then maybe if the world could start to be retrained people would begin to focus on being a positive force to become a "headliner" instead of blowing up something to be front page new. Thanks for this lens it's wonderful.

- I'm 100% in favour of random acts of kindness. It helps the giver as well as the recipient. Our world is full of bad news because it sells newspapers, advertising and so on. How great though to leave flowers on a doorstep, pay the toll fare for the car behind, pop some money anonymously in the mail to someone who needs it or maybe give a small luxury item to cheer someone up. There's so much we can do - even a smile or good word.

- My hubby and I just moved, and are job-seeking. We are not rich, and the savings are depleting. But we were fortunate enough to get what we need for the next few months, and we owe on that good fortune. So we keep a ziploc baggie in the car, and throw all of our change into it. There are panhandlers in this area, people far worse off than we are. When the baggie is fairly full, we go looking for someone to give it to. It's not a stimulus recovery package, but it is what we are able to do. That change will do a lot more good in the hands of someone who needs it than it would in a water bottle in the closet, or scattered around the top of the dresser. It's only a small kindness, but we feel that it is paying off some of the debt we owe for the luck we had in coming here. Great lens! Badly needed reminder in this day and age!
