Reasons the NFL is like SEO

There are many parallels between Search Engine Optimization and the National Football League. You have to use your imagination and understand this is for entertainment only. What can you come up with?
  1. Google is like the Commisioner. No supplements at all! No star caps, enhancment drugs, etc. In SEO, no artificial linking or buying links. No supplementing!
  2. A good team, like a good website, needs daily practice. Whether it is writing content or building your community the more you work on your site, like your NFL team, a professional site is a lot of work!
  3. The challenge flag. OK, this one is different. We have no challenge flag. If the NFL team doesn't agree with a bad call they can toss the flag, the ref will look at the replay, and make the call. We all know Google will decide your fate and that's that. You will be lucky to receive a message. Don't let Google see you with that red flag in your pocket!
  4. Hail mary. Yeah, yeah this one is overplayed-overused-overdone. This is usually to the point most websites are at when they get to the SEO pro. 4th and long, the difference between your site and a team on the 60-yard line is that a lot of people are watching the game, not your website. If you don't want to hire SEO do it yourself. Learn proper methods and techniques and use those methods from the start.
  5. Buying better players. OK.. OK.. maybe this one applies to MLB more than the NFL.. *cough* Yankees! *cough* but we won't say any names. Same with SEO and websites. You can buy PPC traffic from Google, Yahoo, Ask, etc. and believe me, they want you to buy PPC. Just like the NFL, fans want to see their team succeed and win the superbowl. We don't have a Superbowl but I suppose you could argue that top rankings is our Superbowl.
  6. The biggest different between the NFL and SEO is that SEO does not have cheerleaders. I don't understand this one and I think Google should get on this. What were they thinking!!
