Real people or machines?

In these days, having online presence is more important than few years ago, but it also become much harder to achieve.

SEO technology environment is a concept that you must dominate, because although the internet is a mean to communicate people from all around the world, this communication is governed by machines.

So, it's kind of weird...

Time that was past years devoted to web design, trying to make websites appealing and friendly to humans is being burned in the new SEO technology environment.

You know...

To be seen by other humans you first have to be seen (and be liked) by the Search Engines.

Many webmasters wanting to be successful online have entered in a SEO technology environment completely oriented to be liked by search engines and have forgotten the end purpose of human communication.

Make your SEO technology environment human oriented

When you are optimizing your web pages with keywords, don't just look how many searches or competing results they have. Instead try to think which words your target audience would type in their browser when they need to find you.

There's a good point about this in Key Success Factors for Hotel Websites where it explains why sometimes your name is not necessarily a good keyword.

LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing

As you may know, SEO has evolved, and keywords alone are not enough. Searches now crawl your entire website looking for keywords and relevant and thematic content. Luckily, search engines don't go after synonyms alone, and the words they expect to find are geared towards human trends, which is good if you are working in a SEO technology environment that is human friendly.

You can find these relevant and thematic words related to your keywords doing a search with ~ before your keyword (you should type ~keyword) and looking the bolded words through the search result.
It is a good idea to use these terms in the anchor texts of the links pointing to your site to boost your Page Rank as well.

The controversial controversy

If you are willing to have hordes of traffic, you may know by now that that controversial stands get quite noticed (more than 14000 searches per day for keywords related to scam) but controversy doesn't make a good SEO technology environment!

You may achieve top positions and harvest hundreds of incoming links from controversial posts in blogs and forums.

This will bring you lots of traffic too, but is this traffic in a buying mood or just wanting to argue with you? Are you delivering the best customer experience? Search Engines can't tell you this! They just see keywords, related content and incoming links.

So, watch out your SEO technology environment!
