Where were you on Sept 11, Were Was God

Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001. Were you in NY? Sleeping? Driving? What were your first thougths when you heard the news? Did you ever wonder where God was on September 11? Did you ever wonder why God let that happen? This poem sums it up, and answers the question to "Where was God on Sept 11?" Warning: persons viewing this lens may be overcome with tears or sympathy or tears of joy. May also cause a sense of pride for our country and soldiers.

This is a very heartfelt lens that includes information on 9-11, poems, interview with the "Lone Survivor", photos, Ode to America, American Pride, the Lonely Soldier, the Cost of War in Iraq and more.

Where Was God On Septemeber 11, 2001?

(God explains)

"I know you're mad at Me right now. That's alright. People have been mad at Me before and will be again. Being mad is part of being human. My Son got mad, too. It's all right to be mad sometimes at injustice, for example, or the lack of charity."

"You probably think I am unjust and uncharitable when an airplane goes down like that. All those people lost. The children gone. It doesn't seem right; it can't be loving. You ask, 'Where was God?' Why did He allow that to happen?"

"I allow it to happen because I allow you freedom. I could have left you on a string and made you dance all day without getting tired. I could have moved your mouth for you and made you sing all night without growing hoarse. I could have pulled a wire that would have let you soar skyward and never fall."

"I could have, but I didn't because I love you so much. I want you to be free to decide when to dance and sing. Free to determine when you will come to Me in faith and hope. Because you are free, some of you choose not to dance or sing. Some of you select hatred over love, revenge over forgiveness, bombs over a helping hand. As you choose, I watch. I do not disappear. I listen to both the songs and the bombs. AND I REMEMBER."

"Where was God?" you wonder...I was there. I whispered in the ear of a little girl, 'Don't be afraid, I am with you.' I held the hand of a business woman as tightly as she clutched mine. I cradled a pilot against my shoulder as if he were a baby again."

"Amid the paralyzing fear, I was there, as I was there with my Son in the garden. Amid the unbearable pain, I was there, as I was with Him as He was whipped. Amid the terrible realization that life was ending too soon, I was there, with Him as He hung on the cross and asked, like you, "My God, why have you forsaken Me?"

"I had not forsaken Him. I did not forsake them. I was there as they fell, and as they rose to eternal joy. I listened to their anger, answered their questions and showed them why they had been created. Not to end that way, but to live with Me forever."

"In an instant, they came into existence. As you did. In an instant, they left this world. As you will. But beyond that last instant, I kept my promise... A little girl dances, a business woman sings, and a pilot keeps his wings forever."

Where were you on September 11? Do you remember what you were doing when the first plane hit the towers?

I was at home in NYC about 1.5 miles away from the WTC. My brother called to tell me. I went out to my balcony to see the smoke rising. Ran to my building's rooftop and watched it unfold before my eyes. NYC was a different place that day. I knew someone who was killed in the WTC that day and too many who had close calls.

I was driving my kids to school and heard about it on the radio. After consoling them and getting them safely to the school, I drove home and watched the TV with my wife. We saw the second plane hit the tower, unbelievable! It was a very somber day. Unforgettable!

I was in my office in Indiana working when I saw a news headline on the internet. I spent most of the rest of the day in the break room watching the events unfold on the tv. I could not believe what I was seeing. That day was also my son's 21st birthday. He never got to celebrate it, nobody felt like celebrating on that day.

I heard about the attacks when I got to my office in San Francisco. It was about 7 am and I'd been on an hour-long train ride without any cell phone, TV or radio service. Our vice president was the only other person who arrived that early, and we met at the door. He got out of the cab where he'd heard the news on the radio and told me a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. I really didn't understand what he was saying, but then I went upstairs and turned on the computer and started reading. My partner called shortly thereafter and asked me to come home because they were saying another plane was headed toward San Francisco. I turned around and went back home before anyone else arrived at work. Then we were glued to the TV as they replayed those horrible events over and over.

I was working, as a home care nurse. My patient fell asleep after breakfast, so I was watching The Today Show. I heard the reports almost as soon as the first plane hit the WTC, and watched in disbelief as the second one hit. I was scheduled for a long international flight on Sept. 14, which was canceled. When I was notified that a flight was available, I considered not going, but I did. I was so touched by the kindness of people in the country I visited. As soon as anyone realized I was an American, they'd shake my hand and tell me how sorry they were about the tragedy.

An Ode to America

This is an excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title "C"ntarea Americii, meaning "Ode To America" on September 24, 2002 in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei ("The Daily Event" or "News of the Day").

~An Ode to America~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the army, and the secret services that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. The Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing their traditional song: "God Bless America!" I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the California hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put in a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.

What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their galloping history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace.

I thought things over, but I reached only one conclusion...Only freedom can work such miracles

The Flag of The United States of America

I am the flag of the United States of America.

I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is old glory. I fly atop the world's tallest buildings. I stand guard with power. Look up and see me.

I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice. I stand for freedom. I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud. When I am flown with fellow banners, my head is a little higher, my colors a little truer. I bow to no one!

I am recognized all over the world. I am saluted. I am loved-I am revered I am respected-and I am feared.

I have fought in every battle of every war for more then 200 years. I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox. I was there at San Juan Hill, Thee Trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy. Guam. Okinawa. Korea and Khesan, Saigon, and Vietnam. I was there. I led my troops. I was dirty. Battle worn, and tired, but my soldiers cheered me and I was proud.

I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have help set free. It does not hurt, for I am invincible. I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country. And when it's by those whom I've served in battle- it hurts. But I shall overcome - for I am strong.

I have slipped the bonds of the earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have borne silent witness to all American's finest hours. But my finest hours are yet to come.

When I am torn into strips and used as bandage for my wounded comrades on the battlefield. When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldiers or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter. I am proud.

MY NAME IS OLD GLORY LONG MAY I WAVE

The Lonely Soldier

~I am a lonely soldier
I fought in many wars
I gave my life for all my friends
I did it for a cause
I had so many dreams in life
But now they've gone away
My family they remember me
Just constantly they pray
They place a wreath upon my grave
They speak of what I've done
My body lies within this tomb
I am America's son
I tried to do the best I could
To fight for freedom's cause
I prayed that I would save the day
Forever was my loss
I made this special sacrifice
So you could all live free
I am an American soldier
My life a victory
So now when you remember me
I want you all to know
I appreciate this day you give
It's pride that makes me glow
I was proud to serve my country
Proud to die for peace
Proud to be the biggest part
Of the freedom our life speaks
I really did not want to die
I had to save a friend
I did this to protect his life
This honor I defend
So as I lie here in my grave
I hear the soldier's march
Timed in step to fight their best
American's own heart
The colors that I wore for you
I wear them in my grave
The medals spread across my chest
They make my soul ablaze
I'm proud to be an American
My soul in peaceful place
Remember on this special day
A soldier's blessed in peace
My heart is still there is no beat
This love I had sincere
I fought for peace and honor too
My colors were Red White and Blue
So think of me as years do pass
Remember what I say
I'm proud to be an American
I served the U.S.A

The Lone Survivor

This book WILL make you cry!

Photobucket

This book is awesome! I know 3 grown men who have read it and it brought them all to tears. The "Lone Survivor" is a true American Hero. GOD was with him, no doubt about that.

In June 2005, Marcus Luttrell, a Nay Seal, and 4 other Seals left their base in northern Afghanistan and headed for the Pakistani border on a mission to capture or kill a notorious al Quaeda leader. Less than 24 hours later they were all dead except for 1, Marcus Luttrell.

The story is of this team and the desperate battle in the mountains that led to the largest loss of life in Navy Seal History. This book is a tribute to his teammates, who made the ultimate sacrifice for their county.

The American's Creed

The American's Creed

I believe in the Untied States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic, a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity, for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

The Creed was written in 1918 by William Tyler Page of Friendship Heights, Maryland in the course of a nationwide contest on the subject. Page was a descendent of President Tyler, and Representative John Page, who served in the Congress from 1789-97.

This is a wonderful lens about 9-11. On this day every year, for many years to come, people will remember what they were doing on that terrible day, and I hope that nothing like this ever happens again. I featured this in the 9-11 section on my United States Of America lens, and also left a blessing behind.

    Lovely lens!

It probably bothers you as much as it bothers me that some people only think about God when bad things happen. Imagine if they reacted the same way when good things happen. People would flock to churches to give thanks when airplanes land successfully, and the unbelievers would say things like, "If there's really a God, why would he let all these good things happen to us when all we ever do is disobey him?" :-)

Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham's daughter) was asked this question after the attacks - "How could God let this happen?". I do like her response: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/wheregod.asp
