what happened
On september 11 2001, terrorists attacked the USA using hijacked airplanes as missiles.
The first plane hit the world trade center tower 1 - the second plane hit tower 2 shortly after.
2 more planes were still in the sky on route to their respective targets, the pentagon and the white house.
One of the planes hit the pentagon causing massive damage to the outer and inner walls - the plane headed for the white house never made it there as the passengers crashed the plane to stop the terrorists killing anyone else.
A total of 2974 died as a result of 9/11
