loss does not mean defeat

After a devastating battle, the S.S. Seraph crashed through some sort of dimensional portal and ended up broken apart on the bottom of the Vernian Sea in New Babbage.

The four surviving crew members refused to let the defeat of the ship crush their spirits, so they brokered a land deal with the Honorable Shaunathan Sprocket, mayor of New Babbage, and are going into business for themselves.

Along with designing and creating weapons and vehicles, they will be selling reproductions of some of their finds. They are also working on building a new and improved airship that is tentatively named the Seraph II.

Captain Maelstorme Smythe

Ship's Captain

Captain Smythe's latest voyage saw the crew of the Seraph narrowly escape a violent raid. Severely damaged, the Seraph crashed heavily into the Vernian Sea, further damaging the ship's engine room. The ship's doctor, Dr. Augustus Dayafter, was commanded to find safe harbor for the surviving crew. Dr. Dayafter discovered New Babbage, and found a home there for the crew until the Seraph can be repaired...if she can be repaired. Until then, Mael has contented himself with creating and exploring hereabouts.

Gregoe Zlatkis

Chef

Gregoe is an orphan that has spent all of his remembered life aboard one ship or another. He entertained their crews as a boy, and apprenticed to the cook who he referred to as Papa, until Papa's untimely hanging for attacking his captain in an unfortunate incident involving the excessive use of salt, and iron skillet, and "Papa's Knife". He hopped from crew to crew, having to leave every so often as a result of "incidents" until he found his way to the Seraph, which became his first true home until it met its demise. Can and will cook and eat most anything. "If all else fails make Chili". He is also a singer and can play the bouzouki. He learned these skills as a small boy entertaining the crew for his keep before he was allowed to apprentice the cook. He is also adept at engineering due to having to help fix the engines because of his size (being able to lift almost anything) and because the heat from them powered his kitchen. A hungry crew is an angry crew.
