I've surely had my share of serendipity throughout my life ... and now have opened myself up to a new round ... hoping to find it changing my life.

I love the concept of Serendipity -- and it always reminds me of the movie "Serendipity" which is a great illustration of the concept. :-)

Love this concept, this word and the movie about it..just watched the movie "Serendipity" again the other day..must have seen it 20 times now. I did a lens on luck that sort of ties into the concept of luck and coincidence.

A few months ago my parents were buying a trailer online and although the item was sold by the time they emailed, the next day I got a Facebook msg from an old friend of 30 years that I lost touch with. It turns out HE was the one with the trailer for sale. From that email he found me and we've just fallen in love.

I'd like to think that serendipity or coincidence or luck doesn't exist. The harder you work and the more you think about what you want are potent combination to attracting what you want. :)
  • aesta1 Jul 15, 2011 @ 8:21 pm | delete
I remembered encountering this word for the first time...it was like a revelation.

More often than not, it is we who are controlling our lives, slowly we realize that we are the outcome of our own indulgences and Karma - complete 100 %. No tolerances whatsoever.
  • rhonney May 5, 2011 @ 11:42 am | delete
    nice lens...teach me please..
  • BeyondRoses Apr 20, 2011 @ 10:42 pm | delete
Years ago as a young girl (many years) a friend use to tease me about the flirting boys working behind the counter at a local caferteria. Some years ago, I looked up into the face of a restaurant chain manager, helping out on the line during lunch rush. A couple years later, I married him :) .... Love the lens and your examples of Serendipity!
  • summersorbet Apr 2, 2011 @ 11:01 pm | delete
Love this lens! Great job - and great personal stories of serendipity!
  • ChrisDay Mar 4, 2011 @ 2:55 am | delete
It does amaze me, how often serendipity occurs - is it chance? Unlikely.
  • JeremiahStanghini Feb 24, 2011 @ 1:22 pm | delete
That picture you've got as the intro is AWESOME! It sort of makes me want to go and get some spray paint and do it to the DIP sign that I know of about 20 miles away from where I live. lol

    With Love and Gratitude,

    Jeremiah

The "Titan" story is eerily chilling. I had not heard about that book, but with the 100-year anniversary of the Titanic disaster coming up, curiosities will surely be aroused. Thanks for putting these examples in one place. The possibility of serendipity allows me to roll with the punches and make the best of situations.
  • TheScriptedLandscape Feb 16, 2011 @ 9:43 pm | delete
Love serendipity..it's what reminds us we are on the right path!
  • Wednesday_Elf Feb 4, 2011 @ 12:06 pm | delete
Serendipity has occurred in my life and the lives of my family many times. It seems to go along with my frequently given advice to my 'kids' when something they wanted or tried didn't work out -- that the failure of this 'something' is often a springboard for something better or equally as good -- just wait for it!
  • sorana Feb 4, 2011 @ 12:55 am | delete
Fantastic lens. Love it, both the lens and ... and serendipity ...

I believe that when we are feeling happy right now, expecting only good things, that's when Serendipity appears........ We can't control the "How" things are gonna turn out. We can only control our emotions. To be able to attract good things, we must be able to feel joy! Great lens!
  • norhaan Dec 15, 2010 @ 12:34 am | delete
Yes, I believe that serendipity happened to me at least twice before. But probably I was not fully aware of them and so didn't take full advantage of them. After reading your lens, it dawned on me that I have to open my eyes more now. Thanks.
  • Tipi Nov 21, 2010 @ 8:00 pm | delete
I'm not a big believer in luck, but there would seem to some of that involved playing poker. It would take a long time to explain how serendipity has changed my life. Its kind of like going through that mystical mandala maze in life, and we're so happy when we have found our way through.
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Nov 21, 2010 @ 9:56 am | delete
Many times, the universe has blessed me with that when I have really needed it.

I wanted to write online but was a little fish out of water, and failed. I was drowning fish, I found Squidoo and now I am riding the waves, with the big fish and I love it! Blessed by an Angel. I loved the fact Mark Twain came in with the comet and out with it! Maybe he was an Angel in Disguise?!

Serendipity ~ by far my favorite word and concept in the English Language. I have long believed that the ultimate happiness lies in recognition of pleasant surprises, no matter how great or small.

Do you smell the smoke of a burn out blessing? This lens is featured at http://www.squidoo.com/chaotic-good

I love serendipitous occurrences. They happen more often than we think, just because we don't always recognize them, and we often call them coincidence. I believe there's no such thing as coincidence. Love this lens!
  • Leo9 Apr 23, 2010 @ 9:59 pm | delete
I've become quite obsessed with serendipity and synchronicity! Great lens. I have a copy of Jung's book on Synchronicity that you have on your Amazon module. I've read it several times over and I'm still gaining new insights from it. In fact, reading it led to a massive change in my life when I decided to test his thoughts on the power of the wish by wishing an old flame back into my life. He turned up the very next day (after 12 years) and we're soon to be married...

Serendipity is not really a word I have ever really given much thought to before reading this lens. I would honestly have to say that stumbling upon Squidoo has changed my life. In an interviews for a blog, I answered one question by stating that I joined Squidoo to promote my Ebay store but I found a venue to write about thinks I didn't even know I wanted to talk about. I believe that fits the definition of Serendipity.
  • thesuccess Nov 28, 2009 @ 7:52 am | delete
I would agree with you. I also felt instantly right at home with Squidoo which doesn't always happen I can assure you. Happy Squidding

Was 2008 Giant Squid of the Year. Stuffed Cabbage was awarded the Best Cooking Lens, earned a purple star, and was a #1 Lens. The Journal of the Traveling Squid and How to Create a Patio With Stone Pavers have also earned a purple star!
Do you remember how you first thought of doing a Stuffed Cabbage lens?

I just love the sound of Serendipity = would you believe that we stumbled upon a large home some time ago in a gated area nearby -- Serendipity was the name of it! Wished we could get a tour of it.
