Mom's Christmas Tradition: Baking Italian Cookie Recipes

It seemed when Christmas was just around the corner, Mom was always was always in the kitchen baking cookies. I loved the way the house smelled when I came home from school. It added to the anticipation of what I was going to find under the tree Christmas day. Presents galore, or if I tried to sneak a cookie before dinner, a lump of coal.

Mom would bake these cookies for family, neighbors and her friends from my grade school. There was plenty of cookies to go around. Today's Squidoo Lense focuses on 2 of her favorite cookies to make. One, is the toasted Sesame Seed Cookie and the second, Italian "S" and "O" cookie. Actually, you can shape them any way you wish to shape them. But she made the, S's and O's. Then she iced them. The only picture I could find of this cookie is the one below by the recipe. You can see the cookie in the background.

I hope you like today's recipes. They bring back so many great memories for me.
