Old School Sesame Street Musical Guests

Ranked #22,167 in Entertainment, #269,969 overall

Sesame Street never sounded so good

Sesame has been an institution on television since 1969. Teaching children about the alphabet, numbers and a host of other topics. One thing they always incorporate is music which makes learning more fun for the children. I love music myself and always was excited when Sesame Street had a special musical guest. I have put together this page of videos as a shrine to all the fantastic real world music artists that have been featured on Sesame Street. So kick back, turn up the volume and enjoy some sounds from Sesame Street past.

This 1993 collection highlights the role of music in the long-running series from Children's Television Workshop, and reminds us that such Jim Henson creations as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Ernie and Bert were once Muppet superstars. Nothing against Elmo, of course: kids adore him and he makes enough appearances in this anthology (including the show-stopping "Happy Tappin' with Elmo") to keep today's tykes happy. Also included is Ernie's classic "Rubber Duckie", "I Love Trash," you-know-who's "C Is for Cookie," and Big Bird's Big Finale, a rendition of "Sing" that includes the entire cast. There are 27 tunes in all.

I started watching Sesame Street in college and my kids grew up on it. I love the musical guests too. I liked Alice Cooper and Arlo Guthrie as well. Great idea for a lens.
