Elmo

sesame street toys elmo toysElmo is a 3 and half years old Muppet on Sesame Street. The puppeteer behind the fury red monster with large eyes and an orange nose is none other than Kevin Clash.

Having an extra red puppet on the Sesame Street set, Elmo was born. He quickly became a kid favorite as more and more roles and story lines developed for Elmo. And it doesn't hurt to have one of the most popular toys ever have his name on it. The Tickle Me Elmo.

Tickle Me Elmo TMX by Tyco Toys

The Legendary Tickle Me Elmo line of toys

Everyone's heard of Tickle Me Elmo. A few years back in 1996, the original Tickle Me Elmo was released by Tyco Toys. The toy caused quite a stir as it quickly became the year's "must have toy." Parents fought over one another just to get one. As demand quickly outgrew supply prices skyrocketed to a record $1500 for a $28.99 toy.

Fast forward to today, a new breed of Tickle Me Elmo toy is making noise. The Tickle Me Elmo TMX version. While the original only vibrated, the TMX version rolls around on the floor laughing and smashing his fist on the ground, begging for the tickler to stop.

As with the original, demand is quickly outgrowing supply. So better get it now, while supplies last!

The Wisdom of Big Bird

Lessons from a Life in Feathers

Wisdom of Big BirdWith a title like "Wisdom of Big Bird," you'd think this is a book made for light reading. Definitely not the case, as author and Big Bird Muppeteer, would expertly tell his life with an "inside-view" as the world's best-known educational Muppet.

With his tasteful reminisces of the late Henson & Mr. Hooper, Spinney brought back the memories of an era and provided me with an adult illustration of a world of pure innocence. The book provides a beautiful look at the beloved Bird and his soul. Thank you Caroll for taking your dreams and making them every child's reality!

Ernie is also known for keeping Bert awake at night, for reasons such as wanting to play the drums, wanting to count something (like sheep), to observe something like a blackout, or even because he is waiting for his upstairs neighbor to drop his shoes.

Bert

bertBert, though intelligent, is also grumpy, boring and easily frustrated. He enjoys activities such as paper clip and bottle cap collecting, cooking oatmeal and watching pigeons. In one sketch, Bert reads a book called "Boring Stories" and chuckles, "Boy, these Boring Stories are really exciting!"

Bert has a pet pigeon named Bernice, and he created a dance called "Doin' the Pigeon". Bert also has pet goldfish, two of whom are named Lyle and Talbo.

A typical "Bert and Ernie" skit has Ernie coming up with a hare-brained idea and Bert attempting to talk him out of it, ending with Bert completely losing his temper and Ernie remaining oblivious to his own bad idea.

Abby Cadabby

Although familiar with the world of fairy tales, Abby is astounded by such basic learning skills as drawing letters or counting, prompting her catchphrase "That's so magical!" She frequently uses her wand cell phone to call her mommy. When she's asked to return home, she says that she's "gotta poof."

Grover

groverSelf-described as lovable and furry, he is a monster who almost never uses contractions when he speaks and sings. Grover's birthday is October 14.

Grover also has an instructional persona who wears a cap and gown to provide educational context for simple, everyday things. His lessons are often wrong, leaving himself open to correction by a group of kids or Muppets. This, combined with the failings of the Super Grover character, means that Grover is very self-conscious and timid. He is often a source of slapstick humor and often accidentally injures himself.
