There have since been numerous tributes and dedications in his memory. Henson's companies, which are now run by his children, continue to produce films and television shows.

On September 26, 1992, Henson was posthumously awarded the Courage of Conscience Award for being a "Humanitarian, muppeteer, producer and director of films for children that encourage tolerance, interracial values, equality and fair play."The Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Recipients List

Me & Jane Henson

When I was a student at Lake Erie College in 1997 I had the pleasure of meeting Jane Henson. I was wokring as the costume designer and set decorator for the theatre program and we were staging a play called "The Whaling Wife" that utilized puppets. Jane and her daughter Heather had worked with the playwright and Jane wanted to see the production. I got to drive her around campus and later a group of us had dinner with her. She was a delightful person and had many fun stories about Jim and Sesame Street.

Gotta love Sesame Street, but I'm more of a Muppets person. Really, how can you get any better than Gonzo?

Hi Peggy, Excellent lens. I loved the Muppets growing up. I was a huge fan of Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas, always looked forward to watching it around the holidays. Thanks so much for sharing.

I got here by remembering the Muppets and my late father and his three buddies(all elderly), used to play nine holes every Wednesday at the club and sit in there corner in the bar which was fondly known as Muppets Corner. Funnily enough they looked just like those old codgers in the Muppets. Keep up the great work.
