Setting Goals And Achieving Them

This Year I Am Making Realistic Achievable Goals
I'm great at setting goals. What I'm not so good at is achieving them. So what am I doing wrong? This year my plan is to achieve the goals that I set for my self so to do that I need to make some changes. Firstly, I need to rethink the way I have been setting goals for myself and think about how I can do it differently to that I can make them achievable. Secondly, I need to make myself accountable.

First Goal
If You Build It They Will Come
This is my 100th lens. That means that I have created 100 Squidoo web pages. I will apply to become a Giant 100 lensmaster at the end of March. Now that's a big deal. It is acknowledgement that my peers regard my lens writing and creating as high quality and that I deserve to be counted among their number and that is high praise indeed. But since it is only the beginning of January it really isn't stretching myself very much to consider this as one of my goals. So in addition to becoming a Giant 100 Squid by March 31 I will have five lenses in Tier 1 meaning they are consistently in the Top 2000 in popularity on this site. This means better SEO strategies and more promotion.

These Books Teach SEO Techniques

Second Goal
A Family Holiday

"There's a very valid reason for summer vacation: the human brain needs rest." quote from Summer School, 1987
I will earn enough in 2011 to pay for a family holiday. My goal for the first half of 2011 is to double my 2010 income. And then in the second half I will double it again. I will achieve this by employing more focused niche marketing strategies, The extra income that I will have earned will be enough to take the family on a holiday which we really need right now.
Learning Niche Marketing Strategies
If you've struggled with teaching yourself the mysteries of Niche Marketing then there are plenty of resources available to kick-start your learning curve. Here is a selection of just some of the manuals available on Niche Marketing
Third Goal
Thirty Minutes A Day For Me

Yes I need to get fitter. Yes I need to lose some weight. But more importantly, I need to take a break, stretch my legs rotate my shoulders, breathe some fresh air and clear my head. So I resolve to take a thirty minute break each and every day, not for the kids, not to do the vacuuming or clean the bathroom. Just thirty minutes for me. I will don my walking shoes and head out the door.
Enjoy Your Walk In Comfort
You can't enjoy your walk if your feet are sore. Good walking shoes support the feet and cushion them at the same time
Fourth Goal
Lose Ten Kilos
OK. You knew it was coming. After all what's a list of goals without a weight loss resolution? My weight now: 73kg (161 lbs). My desired weight: 63kg. Do you know what? The frustrating thing is that I have been the same weight for five years. It's not as if I keep gaining weight. This is actually a tough one so let's break it down. They say the weight is easier to lose at first then becomes more difficult so I will aim for 6kg by June 30 and then a further 4kg by the end of 2011. I will achieve this by eating more fruit and less bread, drinking more water and less wine (sob! it really is my only vice...)

Fifth Goal
Declutter
Eergh! Did you hear me groan when you arrived here? Clutter. I never used to be like this. And then I got interested in more things. And we travelled and collected souvenirs and took lots of photos. And had four children . And they accumulated stuff. And then I got interested in sewing. And I bought lots of fabric. And never had time for any sewing. And I got interested in cross-stitching. And bought charts. And never got time to start let alone complete any projects. And then I got interested in learning about investing in shares. And subscribed to a teach-yourself at home course. And I need to go through my receipts from last year for our tax return.
And that's just the start of it! I need to de-clutter my house and my life.
So. Where to start. I resolve to take on one project per week for an hour per week and get stuck into the clutter mountain. And make decisions. Real decisions. Not just move this over to there. I am going to do it this time.

- You have some great goals. In fact, I have all the same except I need to gain weight, not lose it.
I have never had a tier 1 lens :( I did however get approved for giant squid 100 not long ago. I was super surprised since I had applied for 50.
