Seven Day Theory

Are we in the Last Days?

Many Christians believe that we are in the last days. The Bible speaks of a time when the Lord will come back. At first, there will be a seven year period known as the tribulation, and after that, there will be a 1000 year period where Jesus will rule the Earth. Many Christians believe that we are getting close to the final days.

There are several reasons why people think that we are getting close to the last days. One of the reasons is that there are signs all around us. The books of Revelation, Ezekiel, and Daniel all outline the conditions that will occur in the end times. Another reason that people believe that we are in the last days is because of the seven day theory.

The Bible says that "a day with the lord is as a thousand years." The Bible also says that the earth was created in six days, and God used the seventh day to rest. Believers in the seven day theory believe that this 1000 year millennial period resembles the seventh day when God rested, and that the rest of Earth's history will be approximately 6,000 years. This only goes along with the creationist viewpoint of the world.

In learning about the seven day theory, I've also discovered that approximately every 1000 years, something interesting happens in Christian or Jewish history. This page outlines some of the major events that happened around each millennium.

4000 BC - Creation

Young Earth Creationists tend to believe that the earth is fairly young (about 6-10,000 years). If you go by a literal interpretation of the Bible, and add up all the dates in Genesis, you end up with God creating the Earth about 4,000 BC. This is also where the seven day theory begins.

Although everything was perfect when God created the Heavens and the Earth, they didn't stay good for long. God gave Adam and Eve a decision to make. They could do anything that they wanted, except they were told not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Of course, they were deceived by Satan to eat, and sin came into the world. They were promised that a Savior would come one day from one of Eve's descendants.

ca. 3000 BC - The World is Shaken Up for the First Time

Several things happened around 1000 years after creation. 887 years after creation, Enoch, a man who walked with God like nobody else ever had, was taken by God. He became the first man to never die. Some people think that he will come back to earth to be one of the two witnesses in the Tribulation (I believe in this theory).

956 years after creation, Noah was born. Noah would become the ancestor of everybody that is alive today. The actual flood didn't happen until after the second millennium.

7 Day Theory

God spent 6 days creating the world... if 1000 years is like a day to the Lord, are we approaching the millennium? This is what the 7 day theory believes.

Every 1000 years, something big seems to happen in Christian history. Will we see the Lord return next?

ca. 2000 BC - Abraham and the Beginning of the Jewish Nation

1846 years after creation, Abram was born. His father was Terah, and they lived in the land of Ur together. Ur was a heathen country that did not worship the Lord God.

1921 years after creation, or close to 2000 BC, God asked Abram to leave his country and go to a place that he had never known before. Abram was not told where he would go or how long it would take to get there, but he obeyed God. God promised to bless him and his descendants, and the nation of Israel came from him.

Isaac, the promised son, was born 1946 years after creation. Jacob, who would later be called Israel and was the father of the 12 tribes, was born 2006 years after creation.

ca. 1000 BC - Israel the Kingdom

Isaac's 12 children ended up moving to Egypt to avoid a famine. Although they were welcomed while that Pharaoh was alive, the future Pharaoh's were threatened by the Israelites, and put them in bondage for 400 years. Moses eventually delivered them, and took them to the promised land, although he was not allowed to enter the promised land himself because of his disobedience.

After the exodus, the Israelites fought off their enemies, and claimed the Promised Land. For a while, the tribes were loosely organized, with slight oversight from judges.

Around 3000 years after creation, the Israelites asked for a king. Although God told them that this was a bad idea, they insisted. The first king to be crowned was King Saul, but he didn't follow the Lord as he should. The second king, King David, was a man after God's own heard, and ended up becoming the direct ancestor of Jesus.

BC/AD Division... Jesus Comes for the First Time

When it comes to Biblical history, you won't find a more important event than Jesus coming to Earth for the first time. He lived a sinless life, and died in our place for our sins.

Israel at this time was under the control of the Roman government, the most powerful empire in the west at the time. Jesus was born to a family that was not wealthy, and you could hardly have expected him to change the world at birth, but he did.

After his death, persecution came to the Christians, and the news of Jesus spread around the world. People were hearing about Christianity everywhere.

1000 AD - More Changes

Around 1000 AD, changes were happening, although it wasn't apparent at the time. The Vikings landed in the new world in 1001 AD, although they didn't recognize it at the time. The Crusades started around this time, and changes were happening in the church.

Year 2000... Is Jesus Coming Soon?

Is Jesus coming back soon? Many people think so. Israel is a nation once again, as prophesied in the Bible. The technology for the mark of the beast is ready. The signs are being put in place. Some of the Jewish people are even putting together the items that will be used in the third temple, which the Bible prophesies will exist in the last days.

2012?

For reasons that go beyond what I can say on this page, many people believe that the end is coming in 2012. Is it? Maybe it will be here sooner than that...

What do you Think?

You only have to look at Matthew 24: 3-14 to recognise that we are in the last days of this system! Far from annihilating, the bible says there will be a 'new earth'; indeed, in the model prayer, doesn't everyone pray for 'thine to be done on earth as it is in heaven'?

I don't think we can know when Jesus is coming back, but it is certainly important to be ready and warn others.Blessed by a squid angel.

After painstakingly creating the firmaments and finding them very good, why should the good Lord annihilate the earth? You may take a peek at a few of my lenses to comment if you find time. Good day and God bless.
