Sex After 60 - Better or the Best?

While I'm usually researching about health subject, anti aging, health foods, etc, I now and then have come across studies that have been done on various stages of life. Several studies were about Baby Boomers and sex.

I've seen several studies that have shown that many elders, oh come on, I"m going to refer to them as 'Boomers' not elders. I'm an elder and I'm the mother of a couple of Boomers. (People born between '45 and '65)

According to the National Social Life, Health and Aging Project of the University of Chicago (presented New England Journal of Medicine), many people remain sexually active well into their 70s and 80s. There was also a Swedish study done that found sexual satisfaction rising in the over 65 set. Perhaps that's why all the Boomers seem so happy in all those Viagra and Cialis commercials!

Keeps You Young!

It isn't just eating the right foods and working out that keeps you young, but it helps with your libido too. When you are healthy and feel good about yourself, you become attractive to the opposite sex and in turn, you become sexier.

A Healthy Body is a Sexy Body

If you don't have the energy, or you are slow moving due to poor nutrition, you need to change that right now. Starting today--eating right will keep you healthier and make your romantic life healthier.

Yes or No - I need Your Thoughts

Do you think sex is better before 60 or after?

Before,

JaguarJulie says:

Gosh, I've never really talked about sex in public, you know? I seriously need to be convinced that sex over 60 is better than sex under 60. Call me a skeptic.

cffutah says:

since I'm still younger, had to go with the obvious for me.

After

mamabush says:

I wouldn't know since I'm in my 30's, but I would think it might be better after 60! No kids in the house has got to be sexy! :)

poddys says:

I still have 3 years to go before I get to 60, but I think as long as your health and stamina are up to it, there is no reason why it shouldn't be better. You have hopefully learned to take your time, and many of us are now less embarrassed by our bodies and less inhibited as well.

Feelings Are Important

There are few things in life that are as intimate between two individuals as having sexual relations. If you are true to the meaning behind your feelings then sex can only get better for you as you get older.

Testoterone

What Can It Do?

Women's bodies, as well as men's, produce the natural hormone testosterone, which plays an important role in sexuality. Low testosterone levels can cause different dissorders related to sexual function, including loss of libido.

An investigation of adult women older than 65 years old described the connection between testosterone levels and hemoglobin levels.

I agree from you remarkable post as testosterone level decreases in older age and it find difficult for an ageless man to do sex.

Now this is something that most people don't ever want to think about. It is unfortunate that people over 60 sometimes feel pressure to not have sex even though their desire is still there. I had read somewhere before that studies showed that the desire to have sex was just as strong in those who were 60 or older as those who were still in their 20's or 30's. Sounds to me like this is an unfortunate stigma that we have created in our society. I hope that I don't feel that pressure to give it up beyond the age of 60!!

In the articles and studies I researched for this lens, you have nothing to worry about. And with all the advancement in help for both sexes, sex should be healthy long after 60 and 70. Thanks for taking time to comment.
