A Personal Memoir
I wrote this book, so this isn't really a review.
I wanted to create a lens about my book, but Squidoo kept flagging it as a banned topic because of the title, I guess.
I chose the best line based on the popular highlights from Amazon Kindle users, which can be found on the Amazon page for the book.
The quote I included below was taken from the product description that I provided for the Amazon page.

- I liked it!

I wasn't too sure what to expect from this story at first because I really don't like books that are written as journal entries but I was surprised as I felt that I was able to relate to this person, I had a friend who had the same addiction and often times a lot of things she would tell me that would involve her love life, or just her whole thought process would have me looking at her like she had two heads I liked the honesty in it although I didn't always agree with her actions I also knew a lot of it is the drug taking over when I looked her up only to find that she STILL does this for a living I wasnt surprised she is really okay with what she does and her drug problem and I think that is how some users feel and are too scared to admit becasue they know they shouldn't feel that way about it. I admire her honesty throughout the whole book.- A fascinating account of a young lady & her dealings with addiction

Ashly has produced an unfiltered account of her life over the past few years and how her addiction to drugs has affected her relationships with men and family. It is very fascinating. If you're looking for a fairy tale-type of story, this isn't it. Although she describes some happy and positive experiences at times in the book, some of her relationships didn't end well. I hope she decides to write another book soon, describing her experiences since last year and (hopefully) what has happened since her book was published. This book and download is one of the most unique stories you'll ever read.- A brilliant writer, amidst a world of addiction, interesting relationships, and love

Although I'm not an addict, I've been very close to a brilliant addict for many years (not Ashly!). One thing I've learned during my years visiting my addict's friends who were in recovery: There are many brilliant people who are addicts. Ashly Lorenzana is obviously one of those people, who is also willing to share her experiences. If you read this Kindle book, first of all, you won't be able to put it down (I know I couldn't). Second, you'll come away with a new sense of appreciation for folks that are compelled to use, and do other things to support their addiction. Thirdly, you'll realize that addicts are people too, with sometimes extremely strong emotions, stemming from a chaotic world of drugs, sex, interesting relationships (to say the least), and last but not least, love.
Ashly, if you read this, I want you to know I really appreciated reading your book, it has special meaning for me, having loved an addict myself, and I hope and wish the best for you in life.- Depends on your Taste

This book was written as journal which makes it hard to follow. The book spends a lot of time just being in Ashley's head, meaning the author explains how she views the world along with her random personal thoughts. If you like a book that is more philosophical than this book is for you but if you like a book that gets you from one point to the next than this book is not for you. Because the book is hard to follow I rated it three stars.
However, I commend anyone for creating a book so the book is at least worth previewing to see if it matches your preferences.
“If you choose to read this book, be prepared for the painful truth.”
GoodReads Reviews

- Shaeeza Haniff (Binghamton, NY)'s review
"I read this book with a very open mind. The author wrote this in the many voices of her personas.
This is an emotionally difficult read. At times rambling, ranting, angry, loving, hateful and forgiving. This author has seen a lifetime of emotions, drama, stress, depression and dysfunction...- Lottaquixotic (The United States)'s review
"...This body of work came across my path, colliding square with my current vessel of thought and emotion with an irresistible force that gifted me with one of those moments of awareness saturated with conscious recognition of myself being alive right now with new knowledge about this self that could only have be learned by a collision in the crossroads with the author's story."
- Dustin Reade (The United States)'s review
"A good book that I am happy to have read. It remindede me in places of a Lydia Lunch book. It had that same feel. "
- Noah (Albany, NY)'s review
"The material is so intimate and can be heart-breaking. This book relays some tumultuous times over the author's young life. She really opened herself up to the world and I thank her for that. I am glad I read this."
Popular Quote:
"A selfless act out of even the purest desire to do for others, will be selfish in the satisfaction and happiness it brings to one doing it."

"Sex, Drugs & Being an Escort is the first book like this that I have read. I found it very moving and heart wrenching."

"This book was an interesting glimpse into the life and psyche of a lady who has ventured into the dangerous and crazy world of Sex, Drugs & Being An Escort."
- Shannon Yarbrough - LLBookReview
"What is in this book is definitely raw, and perhaps a bit too raw. Picture yourself finding someone's journal on the subway or bus and you begin to read. You don't know the person and therefore some of what you read might not make sense, but your mind wanders and can start to put the pieces together."

About Me

Ashly Lorenzana was born in October of 1987 in Portland, OR and has remained living in the state ever since. After spending most of her childhood in a small town along the Oregon Coast, she returned to Portland in 2005 at the age of seventeen.
Shortly after the move, she discovered that her mother was working as an escort in order to support her addiction to crystal meth. Ashly was also an addict, and soon became curious enough to try her luck in the now extinct Craig'slist "erotic services" section.
For the next five years, Ashly worked as an independent escort in the Portland area. She is now an established "provider" of adult experiences, with outstanding reviews on national forums and review boards such as The Erotic Review and TNA Board. With more than five years of struggling with substance abuse, she is also familiar with the consequences of that lifestyle.
Ashly's passion for writing started years ago, when she was still attending school. She has kept blogs and personal journals periodically for several years. "Sex, Drugs & Being an Escort" is her first published work.

Sex, Drugs & Being an Escort by Ashly Lorenzana
My name is Ashly and for the past several years I have worked as a female escort. I started out by advertising in the now extinct Craig's List "erotic services" section. Having lived with my grandparents for most of my childhood, moving to Portland from the Oregon Coast gave me a chance to spend some time with my mother.
Like her, I'm a drug addict with a decided preference for crystal meth or "uppers" in general. In an odd and unexpected way, it was our addictions that brought us "together." It...
Prostitution and Sex Work (Historical Guides to Controversial Issues in America) by Melissa Hope Ditmore
Prostitution and Sex Work is the first book since 1921 to offer a historic overview of this controversial topic-and what our views on it say about American society. Exploring key people, places, and events, the guide includes descriptions of the myriad variations of the sale of sex and of the venues where prostitution occurs, as well as recurring themes such as panics about sexually transmitted diseases and the ever-present issue of violence in the sex trade.
1 pointThe Internet Escort's Handbook Book 1: The Foundation by Amanda Brooks
Most people are curious; what is it like to work as an escort? According to numerous sex surveys, one of women's top fantasies is to be paid for sex. But escort work is not as simple as money for sex. Brooks, a former escort, has written a myth-exploding examination of what escort work requires from the escort while creating an honest and humane vision of a mysterious, maligned business.
The book is not a recruitment tool because the job is not for everyone. The Foundation is a reference written....

0 pointsEscort Girl: A Personal Memoir by Melodie Nelson
In this often shocking memoir, Melodie Nelson vividly tells the story of her three years as a female escort. Neither a nymphomaniac nor a drug addict, Melodie for the most part enjoyed her time in the sex industry. She delivers an honest, nuanced portrait of the life of a sex worker with a terrific sense of humor. Melodie shares her erotic expertise and deliberately challenges common perceptions about prostitution, without becoming its advocate.
