Ships were very important vessels to help mankind know many things and bring many things to home. Expeditions that we study about in class, till todays, luxury liners we enjoy are ships of history and of modern times. The Falls Of Clyde, once the nineth ship of Mr. Matson to haul sugar cane needs restoration.

Help save the Falls of Clyde!

Living in Hawaii, I passed by the Falls of Clyde ship many times. Today the proud ship, is in need of restoration. In 1973, the Falls of Clyde is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Then in 1989 by the Secretary of the Interior, listsed the Falls of Clyde as a National Landmark. The once beautiful ship is now in very sad condition, in Hawaii. The history of the Falls of Clyde is very colorful from her birth in Scotland to her home now in Hawiaii.
The fate of the Falls of Clyde seems bleak. But wait there is a chance to save the Falls of Clyde, the ship that helped Hawaii's people!. Save the Falls of Clyde foundation has begun! To help save the Falls of Clyde, you can go the meetings on Monday @ 4:PM at the Clean Islands council, 179 San Island Acess Road-meetings open to public too! GREAT NEWS! Friends of the Falls of Clyde has started this non profit organization to save the ship, Falls of Clyde. They've a petition going on and you can help. Visit: www.savethefallsofclyde.com.

A group called, The Friends of Falls of Clyde, President Bruce McEwan, has bought the insurance to take charge of the ship and is negotiating terms for the transfer of the ship to save the beautiful, Falls of Clyde. Falls of Clyde is at Pier 5 in Honolullu Harbor and is now cautiously, saved from, scuttling.

The Friends of the Falls of Clyde did it! The historic ship The Falls of Clyde is saved. President Bruce McEwan of the Friends of the Falls of Clyde was happy to announce that the ship will be turned over to the group and will go into dry dock for some serious repairing. They will need $2 million for the initial repairs and some $32 million for further repairs for public viewing. To help: "How to Help: The Friends of the Falls of Clyde is not yet able to take donations, but will be soon. For updates on the ship and how to donate, go to www.friendsoffallssofclyde.org." (from the Honolulu Advertiser Sept. 30, 2008 article page A1.) "Members will continue to work on establishing a fundraising campaign to meet preservation work costs. What a beautiful feeling to know this historic ship with it's rich history will be afloat in a matter of years! Job well done.
