Shadow Lurkers
What is Lurking in the Shadows?
While today Halloween might typically be a time for children to have fun and dress up, ringing doorbells and collecting candy, we are always on the lookout for things that go bump in the night.
Some people cover their eyes when they watch scary movies or close their eyes going through a haunted house. They love the idea of being scared in a controlled environment.
Sometimes things don't go as well as planned, do they? What lurks in the shadows of the night or within your dreams just waiting for you?

Afraid to Look Under the Bed?
Remember when you were laying in bed at night, blanket pulled up to your chin, worrying about the monster under your bed, in your closet and over in that very dark corner of your room?
You knew he was there, waiting. You could hear him breathing even as your breath became more labored. The thought of getting up to go to the bathroom was more terrifying than lying there quietly with your eyes darting from corner to corner.
Just the thought of putting your feet on the floor and letting the monster under the bed pull you under would cause you to go to extremes to jump as far from the bed as you could. Sometimes, thankfully Mom or Dad would hear you and come check and scare the monsters away.
But only for a while...

Curious or Cautious?
When you are watching a scary movie do you find yourself saying "No! Don't open that door!" Or are you the type that is curious and must know what that noise was?
Do you really want to know what is happening on the other side of the door?

No, I don't care what that noise is, let's get the heck out of Dodge!

Ha! I never want to open the door, and prefer to move quickly in the other direction. Scary movies are sensory overload. But I understand how other people like them.
awakeningwellness says:
Not me, that is the mistake they always make in movies right before getting their head chopped off!
24websurf says:
My feet start running before my brain has registered fear!
Well, wait, it could just be the wind. Let's find out before we panic.
Tipi says:
I'd probably check it out...curiosity killed the cat!

It is true! Sadly, I am the type thinks I should investigate every sound BEFORE I run! Of course, I always take my furry beast with me (and I don't mean my husband :) Merlin likes to investigate everything with me and he plays with spiders. lol

- I never watch anything scary! I know from experience that I would have nightmares for weeks!! I think the last one I saw was "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" and that was many years ago and terribly scary!

- Something that won't give me bad dreams like Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin....its for the grandchildren! You had me laying in bed, listening to the breathing and knowing I wouldn't let my feet touch the floor anywhere near the bed so he couldn't grab me....guess we all have the same imagination!
