Not Of An Age, But For All Time. That Means Now.

Is anybody ever really an expert in Shakespeare?  There are so many facets to the man, the time period, the plays he wrote... no one can truly claim to have a handle on it all.  If anybody does, just look him straight in the eye and say "I think Queen Elizabeth wrote the plays," and watch his head explode.

The best I'll be able to do here is try to keep track of some of the more interesting Shakespeare resources I find.  I hope they serve you well in whatever it is you might be searching for.

Shakespeare News

Wait, hasn't he been dead 400 years?

One of the cool things you may not realize about Shakespeare is just how much he's still a part of our culture. Watch any tv today and you're likely to see a Shakespeare reference. Read the newspaper and somebody every day says "Or, as Shakespeare said..." in an article. He invented a few thousand words we use today, and is the source of many cliches and sayings I'm sure you know.

There's really quite a bit to find, if you know where to look for it.

Shakespeare Merchandise

The great thing about being 400 years old is that your image and everything you ever wrote is in the public domain. So people go a little nuts putting your likeness on everything from t-shirts to boxer shorts.

See the Movie

Forget what your English teacher told you.

Shakespeare's wrote plays, he didn't write novels. They are meant to be performed and seen, not read and memorized. Sit back and watch the movie. Some of them are great stuff. Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo is surprisingly good for a modern interpretation. I hear that Jennifer Connelly is coming out in a new Macbeth soon, too.
