A guide to the Shakespeare's Way and places of interest along its route

Shakespeare's Way follows a route that it is thought Shakespeare could have used on his journeys between Shakespeare's Birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Globe Theatre in London.

It is a long-distance path of about 146 miles which uses existing footpaths, bridleways and some minor roads. Shakespeare's Way links many of Britain's best-loved tourist destinations, including Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds and of course, London, actually passing within a mile or two of Heathrow Airport.

This lens is about the Shakespeare's Way and aims to provide up to date and detailed information about the trail. If you have any comments or information about Shakespeare's Way, please leave some feedback.

The photograph is of Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the family home of Shakespeare's wife, and was taken by Natalie Singh.

"My words fly up, my thoughts remain below": Shakespeare.

Please leave some feedback

It doesn't have to be a sonnet, just a few heartfelt words would be much appreciated and give great encouragement.

I have a deep respect for the Bard and often send myself to sleep bemused by Hamlet's shilly-shallying (Why didn't he just DO something?) or reflecting on Sonnet 68 while composing my own epitaph. But walk the Shakespeate's Way ? Perchance a little too dangerous for an older gentleman like myself
