You have probably seen the many infomercials featuring both the Shamwow and the Zorbeez. They make it seem as if these magical towels act as a sponge, cloth, and even a chamois at the same time. You may also have heard they can hold between 10 and 12 times their weight in liquid, and also come with a lifetime guarantee. Each product is hyped up to make every household chore much easier with one of the above products and can even replace paper towels. They wash cars and boats and even clean up all forms of spills and messes. Basically, anything that a towel, sponge or a chamois could do, a Shamwow or Zorbeez could do better. The market however is getting flooded with many brands, how do we know which one will be the best?

Shamwow

Presented quite well by the Shamwow guy, every house wife and any one fond of cleaning their car can really be drawn in by its lure. The Shamwow cloth can hold nearly twenty times it's own weight, which is around twenty ounces. You get 8 Shamwow cloths in various sizes as well as a free Shamwow Mop for a price of $19.95. Both reviews and the manufacturer seem to think that the Shamwow is nearly indestructible. But after further reviews and testing, they have learned that the Shamwow does exactly as it is advertised, however after a few times of washing it then drying it, it becomes fuzzy and worn to the point they cannot hold all of the liquid they could originally. Also they have a hard time with much more thick liquids such as tomato juice. They are also great for cleaning greasy stoves. They work great to use after you finish swimming or as a bath mat. The towels do not seem to scratch surfaces at all, and might be worth the money. But you will probably want to keep a few paper towel rolls close by just in case. While it is not a bad deal, most people feel that the smaller sized Shamwows are a bit too small. Many also say that the mop that is included for free is fairly useless according to quite a few reviews. It may absorb spills on hardwoods and linoleum, but is does not actually clean the mess like a normal mop tends to do.

Zorbeez

While the Zorbeez is not as known like the Shamwow is, it makes similar claims. In a competition between both the Zorbeez and the Shamwow, they both worked about the same in each area. The Zorbeez though is about half the price but does not come with the free mop. They were great for nearly all liquid spills, however they did leave streaks behind when used to clean glass. But, when it came to drying pets or outdoor use, it worked just fine and as the company claims. They remained usable even after a few washing and dryings, but they start to wear and become fuzzy much like the Shamwow cloth.

The Verdict

When you are considering the best deal, you might think that Zorbeez is better for the much cheaper price and you do not have to worry about the pathetic mop. While both of these towels have plenty of uses all around the house and in the outdoors, they will never completely replace a sponge or paper towel. Always remember, if things are too good to be true, they probably are. And this bit of advice fits perfectly with both products.
