Create Free Thumbnail Galleries

Like many others I have some websites on which I wanted to place large numbers of photos, something which requires a large amount of webspace and time. For me this was a problem until I stumbled upon Shareapic.

The Shareapic website hosts all your photos for you, much like other sites such as flickr, and allows you to create excellent thumbnail galleries which can then be placed on your websites, blogs or squidoo lenses.

For me, shareapic solved my photo problem and allows me to make a little money at the same time.

Let me tell you a bit more about it.

Caution 

Currently I have to curb my enthusiasm for shareapic after a number of problems.

My biggest issue with shareapic right now is that their servers are down too often leaving my galleries useless - just rows of red xxxxxxx.

Secondly they lost thousands of photos with a server crash. This is the second time it has happened.

Sharepaic has suspended payments due to a lawsuit over copyright.

Shareapic Thumbnail Galleries 

For me, the best thing about using shareapic to host my photos (apart from not having to pay for lots of webspace) is that I can create attractive thumbnail photo galleries for my websites. They can also be used on forums, in e-mails etc.

All I do is highlight the photos I want on my thumbnail gallery and shareapic provides the code.

How does Shareapic work? 

Shareapic works in the same way as many other photo hosting services, except instead of paying to store your photos online, you can earn a little money every time one of your pictures gets viewed.

Users can create an unlimited number of galleries with just one click and upload photos to them. These galleries and pictures are indexed by shareapic and other people can find them through search engines. However, by sharing the url of your galleries with others photographers can quickly rack up a large number of views.

Users get paid approximately $0.22 per 1000 picture views, but with 1 view credited to your account per picture viewed it is very easy to get 1000s of views very quickly, particularly if sharing them with a large number of friends or blog readers.

I have found it surprisingly easy to generate a large number of views even through a couple of websites and blogs that don't receive huge numbers of visitors: Dartford Waffler (approx 500 unique visitors/month) & Thaibirding (approx 5500 unique vistors/month).

My Digital Camera 

I use a very simple Nikon Coolpix 7600 which is a compact, idiot-proof camera which takes pleasing shots. I am no photographer but it did not take me long to get to grips with the different settings on this model and obtain some nice results.

I really enjoy using the macro setting on the Nikon Coolpix 7600 and have taken some really good photographs of butterflies and plants using it. This is a fairly basic but adaptable camera that I can thouroughly recommend.

Using Bidvertiser Advertising on Shareapic 

For those who get a lot of views and want to maximise the money they make on shareapic there is the opportunity to sign up Bidvertiser to earn money every time one of the adverts appearing alongside your photos is clicked by someone else - very much like google ads, but a different company.

If you do not already have a Bidvertiser account it is very easy to join.

I have joined but really the biggest benefit of shareapic is the free photo hosting and thumbnail galleries.

It's Easy To Get Hundreds of Views Per Day 

Using Shareapic thumbnails has certainly added to my blog Dartford Waffler. Sometimes pictures that I have recently uploaded get over 100 views in just a couple of minutes and it has certainly made many of my blog postings look more interesting.

These pictures of British Orchids have proved popular.
