Shaving accessories are an electric razor or may be some canned foam and a multi-bladed razor, right? Well yes, but they can be so much more. They can be brushes, soaps, a variety of razor configurations, after shave and pre shave lotion and oils, all specifically designed to help make your daily routine a pleasurable experience. What shaving pleasurable???? Impossible!!!, you say. Well maybe it's time to rethink the whole process.
If you think about it, shaving is one of our first actual decisions of the day, namely, to shave or not to shave. The expected outcome is usually a well groomed appearance, but is more possible? I would suggest that there may be. If we approach it right, our daily act of shaving can elicit a broad range of pleasurable reactions. It can feel luxurious. The application of a preshave oil and a thick, warm foam gives one a sense of comfort, like a warm blanket on a cold day. So too the gentle pull of a sharp razor, along with a soothing or invigorating splash of an aftershave. Quite a reward for a routine, mundane, everyday activity.
I know, I know most of you are probably saying: "I haven't got time to fool around in the morning; I got to get it done and get out the door". Well think about it a moment. When you get a terrific outcome from a decision you've made, doesn't it put you in a better frame of mind for the rest of the day? Aren't you more self-confident and generate more presence and self-assuredness? I'd suggest that starting every day with a great shave will not only improve your appearance but will have a positive impact on your entire approach to the day.
How can you achieve that "great shave"? Well it takes a bit of time and a bit of money. Not a lot, just a bit. You'll need to explore other shaving methods, classic wet shaving, wet shaving and dry. You'll need to lean their advantages and disadvantages, along with the proper techniques of each. You'll need to examine the wide array of shaving accessories understand how they complement each other. And finally you'll need to experiment to find which combination of method, technique and accessories best generate those concrete and sublime outcomes you're looking for.
Taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary is usually a difficult endeavor, not so with shaving. A bit of study and experimentation and you can transform the mundane act of shaving into an experience that you' approach with joy and anticipation.
