Shawn Michaels , born Michael Shawn Hickenbottom , started wrestling in 1984 in small wrestling organizations.Michaels wrestled in trained in Texas and Kansas before going to the AWA to team with Marty Janetty , a team that would soon become known as , "The Midnight Rockers."The Rockers soon found success , winning the WWF Tag Team Titles , but they were stripped of the titles only a week later , and soon there after they went their seperate directions.Janetty never really succeeded in the singles division , but Michaels definately did.
Michaels began to transform into the character that would be his wrestling career.He was managed by Sherri Martel , and it wasn't long before he won the Intercontinental Championship from the British Bulldog ,and defended his title against Janetty in what would be called "The Match of the Year." And the next year the Heart Break Kid didn't slow down.He competed in the first ever ladder match against Razor Ramon , then in 1995 he won the Royal Rumble , and he won the Rumble again in 1996 , too.Then , at Wrestlemania 12 , Michaels defeated Bret Hart in a 60 minute Iron man match to become WWF Champion , fullfilling his "Boyhood Dream." Michaels was then involved in the "Montreal Incident , " or "The Montreal Screwjob ," when Michaels was basically handed the title , after Mr.Mcmahon had ordered the referee to say that Bret tapped out , even though he didn't.After that he was involved in the first ever Hell in a Cell match with the Undertaker.Michaels was WWF Champion off and on until 1994 , when he left the WWF because of a back injury , only to return 4 years later.During these 4 years , Michaels "found his smile" ,he became a devot Christian , and a father , too. SHawn Michaels returned to the at SummerSlam 2002 ,vs. Triple H , and he has been going strong ever since.
Michaels , nickname "The Heart Break Kid" , and "The Show Stopper ," has had a highly decorated career.Michaels is a former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion.Michaels has also held the Intercontinental,European ,and World Tag Team Championships.Michaels won the 1995 and 1996 Royal Rumbles ,becoming the first man to be enter first and still win,he was involved in the first ever Ladder match , the first ever Hell in a Cell Match,and the first ever Elimination Chamber Match.HBK has been showstopping for years,and will be for years to come.
