How do you feel when you walk into someone's home that is spick and span, without an item of clutter and a lawn outside that looks like it was manicured at a top beauty parlor? Everything is so "just right" that you wonder where you dare tread?

Personally, I am relieved to see at least something that makes the home looked lived in, but at the same time I think most of us appreciate a neat and tidy home, and wish we could even get half way to that level of organization and tidiness. Fortunately, much of our own untidiness and clutter can be overcome quite simply, and without too much effort and cost.

Of course, it does help if you have lots of cash to spend on improving your storage around the home to make it look neater. But with some thought, ruthlessness for unwanted items, a zest for better organization, and some spare cash if necessary, virtually ALL clutter problems can be resolved. The key is the correct use of the right cabinets, racks, cupboards and shelves for the home in the right place.

In most cases you can afford to have a bit of flexibility in getting your things well organized. It is best to at first consider the whole, rather than each room in isolation. For example, some surplus things inside may give you a problem, but outside storage could be a viable option that relieves your indoor cluttered state. Also, to an extent, potential storage areas such as the garden shed and garage are interchangeable.

You could well find that if you get your garage storage solutions sorted out, maybe with overhead garage storage, or wall racks, then you could solve a lot of your clutter problems in the yard shed and house. Similarly, the right shelving in the wood shed could help bring relief to the overburdened garage.

Be ruthless about disposing of junk you do not need or ever use, especially inside of the home. The kitchen and bathroom especially take little surplus to make them look untidy. Adequate shelving and cabinets here will be a good start for your indoor clean up plan. Bathroom shelving, towel racks and a mirrored cabinet can solve several problems there, while if you're short of cash, used kitchen units can help you out in the pantry.

In the bedrooms, some ruthlessness with old clothes can relieve space constraints, but relatively cheap additional shelving or tallboys can easily be found if you have space for them. With children's bedrooms, toys can be a source of angst, so an adequate toy box and/or cupboard are a must. With the kids, though, getting them into good habits early can be a big benefit to you%u2026and to them in later life.
