How to Make a Shirley Temple Drink

The Shirley Temple drink was named after Shirley Temple, the famous child actress. Invented back in the 1930's, the Shirley Temple drink is a sweet, non-alcoholic drink. Because of its sparkle, fizz and great taste, the Shirley Temple drink is a popular kiddie cocktail. Kids love them. Shirley Temple martinis are delightfully delicious and make for the perfect cocktail for adult non-alcohol drinkers.

Shirley Temple-Drink

1. Add 3-5 ice cubes to a highball OR martini glass.

2. Add 3 ounces of lime juice.

3. Add 3 ounces of Ginger Ale OR substitute it with 7-Up or Sprite.

4. Add a dash of grenadine.
(The grenadine's function is to serve as color more than taste. Adding too much can make your drink painfully sweet)

5. Add a cherry (or two) and a straw.

6. Stir...and enjoy!

For a non-alcoholic cocktail drink, serve a Shirley Temple in a martini glass.

I drink sometimes - but would often rather not. I'd love to try one of these, although I suspect I'd get raised eyebrows if I ordered one when out with colleagues... People are such traditionalists in the pub - beer, perhaps a coke if you aren't drinking, otherwise they start asking questions...
