A journey walking in womens shoes
Welcome to my womens shoes site that displays my shoes in a way that tells a story about me and why I wear them. Shoes say a lot about a person's identity and will often change as the person changes the mode or mood they are in. Nowadays we have shoes for every occasion, but not so long ago for many, there would have been one pair for all eventualities. Even Cliff Richard explains in his biography how as a child, he had to share one pair of shoes with his mother for a time whilst money was tight. He would wear them during the day at school and she would wear them in the evening when she went to work.
We all begin life without shoes and then, we wear our first pair as we learn to walk and step out into the world.
A pair of shoes can really set off an outfit or indeed ruin it. They can also make a difference to your stature and the way you walk, so it is important to wear the right kind of shoes, as they will carry you throughout your day. What better comfort is there than to get home after a busy day, take off your shoes and replace them with your comfy slippers. My Really Old Gumboots
Bought about 40 years ago!
These gumboots must be my oldest piece of footwear! They have been with me through rainy puddles, snowy paths and muddy fields, travelling with me around the country, abroad and back again. Still my faithful protection from dirty and dangerous terrain. Sitting there propped up by the door, they remind me of the "get out there and tackle it" approach. What do these shoes say about me?
I love walking and wear these when I do so. Walking in my shoes means that they have to be comfy and robust. These are just right for me and keep my feet comfortable all day when out in the country or enjoying the coastal paths near us. My Loafers For Everyday Wear
These are easy to slip on and off

I won't hang up my dancing shoes!
These pretty shoes were bought for me by a friend, as a sign that I should keep dancing and enjoying life. Not that I have ever been a real dancer, but I love having the occasion to wear them. The first was for my 50th birthday party, which was a lovely evening with friends and family and the second was my son's wedding, when I had them dyed to match my outfit. Worn for nice occasions when I don't want a high heel
These are actually the shoes I would usually wear at the office. They are pretty without being uncomfortable and are great with trousers or a skirt. Then There's The Office Shoes
What I might wear to a job interview
These are worn for more formal occasions, such as weddings, funerals or sometimes to work. They have a medium sized heel, which means that I wouldn't be comfortable walking around in them for long. These sandals hold special memories
I bought these sandals for a holiday in Israel, when we went for a relative's wedding, that was celebrated for the better part of a week. It was a holiday of a lifetime and the sandals remind me of it each time I wear them. More Summer Footwear
These are my light, casual shoes
Great for when I need something cool, yet fully supporting my feet, for those long walks in the Summer, when I'd rather leave the socks at home. My Beach Shoes
I enjoy swimming in the sea
As I live just around the corner from the beach, these shoes are an important part of my beach wardrobe. They make it much easier to walk over the pebbles when getting into the sea and are light enough to swim in. My Short Boots
I wear these mainly with trousers to give extra warmth
Sometimes a full-length boot feels too much and these short boots are a comfortable compromise. They look smart and yet are warm and protective too. Long Boots
For cold, winter days

Suede slippers with faux fur lining
I have been wearing these slippers for years, because they are soooo warm, cosy and comfy. Everything you need in a slipper to get you through a cold Winter. I like cosy evenings at home with candles and hot chocolate and these slippers are a must-have! Here Are My Slip On Slippers
Great for taking with me to the spa or when I go away
They are so slim, they need little space in my bag and help to keep my feet cosy when I'm visiting the spa or family or friends for a few days. They just give me that cosy, at home touch. My Super Cosy Bootie Slippers

- The great thing about this shoe site is that it actually makes a wonderful "about me" lens. It was very nice to learn more about you. You are very right -- shoes tell us so much about a person. I live in my moccasins, my Uggs-like warm boots, and my hiking boots. Very practical and always ready for an adventure. Enjoyed this lens. I found it on RedGage. :-)
