Buying Tips for Clothes

Here is the latest way of buying clothes without stretching your budget. You'll learn how to spot the trends, buy retail sales, and other tips you can use to shop smart and save big on clothes.

Did you know that manufactures often ship their new line of clothes to discount stores at the same time they ship them to high priced department stores?

Here's the first secret to shopping smart.

All clothing are tagged with a code that identifies the manufacture. Look on the tag for the "RN" followed by numbers on the tag. Copy down the RN # of the garment and then check it at the discount store. If the numbers are the same, the product is the same but for less than department store prices.

Never Pay Retail

When you do shop in a 'brick and mortar' store, take the item you want to buy to the check out counter and ask them to hold it for you until it goes on sale. It's worth a try. Retailers mark their products up about 50% of what it costs them, so if they can make the sale at a fair discount, they are happy.

Buy On Line

For Great Deals

Retail StoreInternet vendors do not have a store with employees to maintain. They are usually just pack and ship. Here's a tip. Go to your local department store or designer boutique that carries the brand you like. Find what appeals to you, try it on, make a note of the style, size, color etc. I usually buy a small item before leaving so I don't feel guilty about doing this. Go home, fire up the PC, or even your mobile device, and search for the brand. You will be amazed at how much you save, even with shipping costs.

Tips for buying shoes.

1. Shop at the end of the day when your feet are a bit larger.

2. If you're going to shop for shoes on line, be sure of your size. Best to go to a store and try on the style and brand you like.

3. Think about what you want the shoes for, dress, casual, at home leisure.

Do you know where the saying 'down in the heels' came from and what it means?

The wearing of shoes with worn down heels is a mark of being destitute

Make sure you are always well heeled.

Invest in One Really Good Item

Basic Black tunicGet it on sale when possible. Use it as your signature piece. It can be a blouse or jacket, mix and match it with your less expensive, bought off season clothes. If you were able to use the money saved buying off season for a great pair of shoes, or a piece of nice jewelry, that will highlight the whole outfit.

For Need?

I buy not only for comfort but need too = ]

Ruthi says:

Currently, I only buy clothing items when needed and those are usually for work. I can not remember the last time I bought something to wear just for fun, just for me. I guess I walk in that 'down in the heels' destitute category.

I buy for both. If I need something though I make sure it's comfortable!

Vintage Clothes - Priceless

Vintage OutfitI know a very stylish gal who looks for clothes from the '50's. She claims the quality of clothes was much better then. Another good reason to buy Vintage, you are not going to see the same item on someone else. Buy classic Vintage like Chanel. It's always in style and so to will you, economically too.

Great ideas! I shop at thrift stores too. I picked up 3 summer dresses recently and I'm sure I'll live in them during the heat!
