Fitting out sports shops
There are also useful racks upon which retail shopfittings can display rackets on slatwall; these can be used to display up to 14 tennis rackets, and allow customers to pick up the merchandise and examine it to ensure they are buying a racket that suits their needs. It may seem like a minor point, but this is just a small way of giving customers a little more help while they shop, and could encourage them to buy from your shop. This is also the case with the slatwall golf club display; a rack attached to the slatwall with a base unit to store the club heads on the floor allows customers to scrutinise the goods before making a purchase, and while it will cost around £31.45 to buy a single unit, each unit will display 14 clubs - 4 woods, 9 irons and one putter. So while your standard slatwall shelving may not be much use for displaying sporting goods, the specially-designed sports displays will give you specially designed units to show off your sporting goods and maximize your business performance, just as the goods on display are designed to maximize athletes' performances.

Shopfittings and slatwall sectors change over the decades
Changes in shop fits
In 1998 a survey stated that 4,000 village shops had closed since 1991 in the UK leaving, at the time, 82% without a local store. Now, eleven years on, has the situation improved? Sadly no. With the continued development of the superstore, shopping centres and out-of-town malls, the pressure on the village store to keep their customers has only increased. Closures have been increasing steadily over nearly two decades. In 1992, one village store in Herefordshire, which had been thriving very well for many years suddenly found itself in trouble.
The shop owners had left the rat race of London and bought the shop with the intention of it providing a means of supporting their retirement plans. The shop came complete with all stock and shop-fittings and offered many local services such as video rental, newspapers and off-licence. Situated some distance from Hereford, the local store was far enough away from the town centre to make it easier to shop in the village rather than travel into town. That was until the opening of a nationally known supermarket on the outskirts of Hereford.
Not only was it now a lot nearer to the village making it worth the trip to benefit from the cheaper prices, but also many of the local villagers had found employment with the supermarket and so naturally did their shopping there. Within a year it was apparent to the village store owners that their takings were beginning to slide - almost on a weekly basis. Coupled with the increasing business and mortgage rates in place at the time - nearly seventeen percent (17%), their turnover fell. It took another eighteen months before the owners finally had to face the inevitable and file for Bankruptcy. Six years later, in 1998, another well-known supermarket chain began a pilot-scheme to offer assistance to village stores by allowing them to sell their brand of nonperishable items, an initiative that was still in place in 2007. However, village stores continue to suffer.
With the increase in online shopping, supermarket delivery services, Post Office closures, increasing fuel bills and the Credit Crunch, the trend shows no sign of abating. This was highlighted on March 26th 2009 with the closure of a historic one hundred and fifty year-old Village Stores, near Huddersfield (BBC News) that had survived two world wars, and the Depression. In many cases it would seem that the villagers most affected by these types of closure are the elderly and those unable to travel too far. With the added loss of public transport to these outlying areas, many members of the local population may feel increasingly isolated. The shop in the village in Herefordshire is thriving today, but only at the expense of two other local shop outlets. It is a sad fact that despite all efforts to try and retain customers, the only people that can help keep the village shop open for years to come, are the villagers themselves.

Slatwall shopfittings Offer Economic Solutions
Due to advances in slatwall shopfittings component technology, it is now easier than ever for retailers to construct a quality, long-lasting display. Everything from "no brackets required" exists now, and the flexibility and ease with which displays can now be customized is absolutely astounding! In addition, slatwall components come in many types of materials, from plastic to metal, and in a wide variety of sizes, which again leads itself to the variety and uniformity, and of course, longevity of a display.
The slatwall components that exist today are a cut above those of a mere twenty years ago, due to these technological advances, and the more durable, quality slatwall components are relatively cost effective now, due to the use of a plethora of materials available for construction.
Quality also provides versatility in display, as what is boxed and displayed on a shelf one time, can quickly and easily be converted into a hanging display. Many quality slatwall components are also mobile now, and displays can be rolled from one section of a retail establishment to another with ease, thereby making sales and special discounts easier to implement, as shoppers can immediately view the sale and special items upon entering an establishment. Because quality slatwall components are versatile, back panels can also be changed to conform to changing retail needs, replacing slat panels with solid or perforated panels within a few minutes.
Everything from timber applications to plastics exists now, alongside aluminum products, and quality retail fixtures have advanced to the point where many times the organizational needs of business offices as well as homeowners are being met with slatwall components. Making space is almost a necessity in many businesses and homes, and the shopfitting industry as a whole is seeing an upsurge in purchases of their products from both businesses and homeowners.
Of course, this all ties into the quality and flexibility offered by a shopfitting service, and care must be given when purchasing to both the quality and flexibility, or the slatwall components will not necessarily fit the needs of the purchaser.

Luxury retailer takes a punt on expensive shopfittings
expensive shopfittings
Paspaley is a pearls retailer executing bold shopfittings plans despite the gloom along with its neighbours near the Russell Street intersection include the new Emporio Armani, opening tomorrow, and the new Louis Vuitton store, to be shortly.
Paspaley decided to open a store along with expensive shopfittings is a decision that pays little heed to current circumstances. The opening of the Melbourne store follows a decade of searching for a location offering the rarefied atmosphere the brand seeks.
Executive chairman Nicholas Paspaley, son of founder Nicholas snr, said the shopfitting cost millions of dollars.
And what did he get for his money? The 250-square-metre store features a soaring seven-metre atrium at the entry, a sweeping marble staircase, a domed ceiling, Indian marble floors, a private view room and a mezzanine - all illuminated with a Murano glass chandelier.
But Mr Paspaley insists his customers are not seeking ostensible displays of wealth, but crave the pleasure that comes with knowing they have adorned themselves with accoutrements of the highest quality.
"People still need to have something special - that doesn't change," he says. "We only use 18 carat gold, we don't use any nine carat or 14 carat, we only use best-quality diamonds and good designs, so we've got world's best standards. People still buy fine things."
It's a sentiment other Collins Street retailers are hoping prevails.

Shopfittings on their doorstep
Westfield retailers overcome shopfittings problem
Westfield shopping centre has said many retailers failed to open on time due to their complex shopfittings arrangements. However, this wasn't a problem for owners using storage specialists Action Storage. They were ready for opening day, and greeted over 10,000 shoppers who flocked to the UK's largest in-town retail complex.
Although Westfield's developers came from Australia, many shops found the project management expertise they needed locally. Action Storage supplied 20 stores with shelving, lockers, and stockroom equipment. Fifteen of them also chose to use Action Storage's dedicated installation team to set up their shops with shopfittings.
Stores set up by Action Storage included those in the exclusive Luxury Village, where many of their competitors failed to get their stores ready in time. One of the stores supplied by Action Storage nearly ran out of stock because demand was so great, highlighting the importance of being able to maximise stockroom space and getting shopfittings installed on time.
