But I like shopping!What online retail articles forget is that it's fun to shop, it's something we've done since childhood when we went shopping with our parents and online shopping will never change that and it doesn't want to.
So, how do I save money, then?
Let's say you want a television. It's possible to visit several shops if they're close together, but that will take most of a morning. Then, by the time you get to the last shop, you'll have a head full of facts and prices and nothing written down.
Contrast this with internet shopping where, in an hour, you can visit most of the UKs major television retailers and collect and save the specifications and prices of a dozen or more products enabling you to make a proper reasoned decision. A decision that may well save you money.

There are other books that begin 'The Joy Of...' that you might think are more interesting but you'd be wrong!
Virago's the Joy of Shopping is an incredible mix of facts about shopping that deals with the history of shopping from the 1400 right up to date.
As a social history it is fascinating and as a way to never be without an idea for a present, it is useful but there is better fact about this book that we discovered.
