Men shopping for fun – impossible or not?

We all know this stereotype claiming that only women adore shopping, and when it comes to fun shopping there's no room for men. True? I don't think so. Actually I used to think this way myself. Every time I tried to involve my boyfriend in the shopping process, he would refuse and say it was cruel to make him do what he hated. Whether it was store shopping or online, both were always on me. Only in rare cases when he needed to buy something like exhaust system or new tires for his auto, we wouldn't trust me because the choice was too important.

The way it was until the day he decided to buy a wii console. That's when I realized what makes shopping fun for men:

1. They need to have a clear shopping goal of what they want to buy.
2. They will never get fun from the process if they are shopping for something they don't really need.
3. They do have fun if they are shopping for something they are absolutely keen on!
4. They get more fun from the result of purchasing a dream item rather than from the process.
5. They hate going out so in most cases only online shopping (or buying in social shopping network) may be fun.

His dream...

So he wanted to buy a Wii. (When he told me that I had no idea what the thing actually was). In his own words "this is not just a game console, that's so much fun to play cause it's not an ordinary game system%u2026.it's just a party machine!" Pretty impressive but still not much useful info to me.

I tried to find out why he wanted this gadget so much and what was so special about it. And now I know that it's not just a fifth video game console released by Nintendo. It's distinguished by a wireless controller used as a handheld pointing device and detects movement in three dimensions. Besides, the console is able to connect to the internet enabling you to stay online 24/7, play with your friends, surf the web from your sofa and download the latest updates even on standby.

Nintendo's Wii was launched in the four key markets by December 2006. A year later The Financial Times reported that as of September 12, 2007, the Wii became the sales leader of its generation, based on sales figures from Enterbrain, NPD Group, and GfK. According to NPD, Nintendo sold 1.35 million Wii consoles during December, bringing total Wii sales for 2007 to 7.4 million! Since introduction, Nintendo has twice boosted production levels for its Wii console, and is now manufacturing 1.8 million units a month.

So no wonder that a wish to buy such a smart gadget would make shopping fun for any man. And now I also like it because he gets to exercise his arms while playing!:)
