Summer Vacation in your own Backyard!

We are going to come up with fun ways to decorate your backyard and create your own vacation paradise!

What's a backyard without a bar?

Cocktails anyone?

Imagine you're going on vacation....you have to get out of the cold so you've booked a room at a tropical resort. Your flight lands, you make it to the location and quickly unpack, changing into your swimsuit! As you approach your reprieve of the poolside lounge chair you spot it.......the pool side bar. YES! You've come to the right place to relax and unwide. There's nothing like a cocktail poolside.

But alas, a week later you trudge home and find your own backyard empty and dull. Never fear, there is still time before glorious summer to create that tropical atmosphere in your own backyard. If you have a pool, great. You've got a head start. If you don't have a pool, that is OK too. You can create the pool side feeling and sound of water with a water feature. We'll discuss choosing a water feature next time.

Once you have the water element to create atmosphere, you need your bar furniture. Teak wood furniture is a great choice for poolside style! It looks great and stands up to the elements. A classic bar with bar stools or just a table and chairs will do the trick. Make your choice depending on how much space you have and how many guests you can usually expect. If you have a lot a friends and family consider yourself lucky and have both a bar and a table. Don't forget lounge chairs for the pool area.

Next, you will need bar tools and accessories. Even if you have a bar inside your house you will want enough of the basics to keep in your outside bar to make it convenient. The bartender has to be able to relax and have fun too! A bartender's kit is great because it comes with everything you need from your whiskey measure and shaker to the strainer and stirrer. Don't forget extra shot glasses and a variety of cocktail glasses made out of resin to avoid glass breakage in your pool area.

A few decor items such an outdoor rug, potted plants, an umbrella and some wall hangings will add the finishing touches. Tin signs work great outside and are very popular right now. Cast iron accessories also look great with any decor. You can find all of these items on www.backyardbliss4u.com website. We'll cover some of these things in more detail as our page progresses. Thanks for reading!

Martinis - Foofoo or Classic?

I love martinis. I love pink, blue, green, red and STRONG martinis. I love them with cherries, I love them with olives. I love them. Some may say that anything but grey goose and olives makes a martini a "foofoo" drink. Personally, I beg to differ. Part of the allure of the martini is the way it looks in the glass. As long as it's COLD, I'm a happy camper. What do you think?
