Some people are very talented in telling jokes and making fun of daily life situations; however, these people are not very common. Good humor is considerably rare, while cheap humor exists in abundance everywhere.

Humor therapy is very therapeutic and most of the times, it is helpful provided that the person doesn't have very grave problems or trauma. Everyone can learn how to be funny and make short jokes, by making fun of several situations of their daily life.

You only have to think about everything from the point of view of an observer. In other words, simply pretend that the problem you are facing, the damage you are seeing or the situation you are in is not really your problem and you are going to escape from suffering. Pretend things are this way, even though you know they are not. Why? Because this way you'll build your humorous disposition.

When you feel that you are not the victim, you can laugh at your situation. If you strengthen your humorous outlook towards life, you will be able to look at the lighter side of the problematic situation you are facing.

For example, once I had to prepare several papers in order to buy an apartment and I was really stressed with all the requirements. My lawyer and I went to many places together... It belonged to four people and there was considerable complication with the preparation of all the necessary documents.

Even in my suffering, I found a way to laugh because the guy who was putting stamps in many documents mechanically missed the paper once and his mechanic movement failed. I was observing him, while waiting for someone in a department. This mistake made me want to laugh, even though I knew that I should not do that since I was in front of him because he may feel offended.

The inability to laugh in his presence made me want to laugh even more... Why? For a silly reason. However, this silly reason made me relax and forget my tension with all the preparation of the documents.

I needed this beginning in order to start making fun of all the tiring and problematic situations I had to face. This is why you should pretend that what is happening does not affect you: in order to start having a humorous disposition.

For example, when we had the meeting with the apartment owners in one of their apartments, one of their nephews was there. My lawyer and I were surrounded by the owners and their representatives. They were very rich but miserable people.

The apartment was closed and they wanted me to pay for its electricity from the beginning of the year, although we were already at the middle of the year when I bought the apartment. I told them they had to pay the bill from January to July. At this moment, the owners' nephew said,

"Uncle John, they want to make us pay!"

His uncle was very irritated and told me that the apartment was closed and nobody was using its electricity anyway.

I told him,

"Uncle John, what if you fixed several parts of the apartment while using its electricity before selling it to me?"

This answer gave another tone to the discussion and a friendlier atmosphere reigned in the environment, whereas before the air was tense.

You can be funny if you examine each situation from afar (it doesn't affect you, you don't suffer) and look for a way to give it a humorous aspect, even though this humor cannot arise from such a situation.

For example, when I was at high school, I once entered in a bus full of people with my umbrella open because it was raining; I couldn't close it and I was in a hurry, I couldn't miss that bus...

Can you imagine a bus full of people and a teen with an opened umbrella in it? This was a very funny situation by itself. I wanted to laugh a lot, but I couldn't because I was causing a big problem to everyone.

"Why don't you close your umbrella?" Someone asked, nervous with my attitude.

"Because I can't," I said. "It doesn't close..."

A lady took the umbrella from my hand and started spanking it on an iron bar of the bus. In a while, she managed to close it. She gave it to me, whereas I wanted only to laugh a lot, but I was holding back my laughter because I was afraid that someone would spank me, especially in the beginning, due to the problem I was causing to all passengers with my opened umbrella in a place where humans are crammed like sardines in a tin.

When I remember this situation, I always want to laugh... It often gives me inspiration for jokes.

However, most daily life situations don't have this funny aspect. We have to look for something funny in the drone of everyday life. This is not easy!

How can you be funny and make funny jokes all the time?

Use your imagination!

A friend once wrote the following poem and gave it to his girlfriend:

"I like your eyes very much.

Crocodiles don't have necks.

I'm going to ride my bicycle."

This was the poem.

Very original, isn't it?

This poem is not poetic at all, neither does it have any logical connections, but it is quite funny! Especially if you think that perhaps his girlfriend was expecting to read a beautiful demonstration of his love when he told her, "I wrote a poem for you"...

How are you going to find funny things to say? Be original. Do something of your own and if it is not as funny, never mind. Next time you can find something better to say, until you prepare your repertoire of funny daily jokes, which will increase every day!

When you have a collection of jokes prepared, you can make changes, make similar jokes with other things, and everything becomes easier.

Of course, you always have to find new jokes to say and only use the old ones as a reference, a point of inspiration for new ones. Don't be the kind of people who only know two or three jokes and repeat them in any opportunity or situation they are in, throughout their lives...
