Mcdonald's Shrek Glass Recall

Ranked #21,693 in Entertainment, #239,482 overall

Shrek 4 Glasses Have Been Recalled.

If you recently bought the new Shrek glasses between May 2010 and June 2010 then you should return them to Mcdonalds for a refund. It was found that Cadmium is in the paint. That is a horrible chemical and can cause serious damage to the body. It is in the paint on the glasses. The glass itself is safe, but the painted part is not. Which makes the whole glass in itself a danger to drink out of or own.

Shrek 4 Glasses By Mcdonalds.

Shrek Forever After.

The popular Shrek series is at an end, but will not be forgotten and neither will this now famous recall by Mcdonald's. I for one have bought all the glasses and have been using them since I got them. Well not anymore they will be returned to Mcdonald's promptly for a refund. It's very sad that my kids won't be enjoying them, but it's better to be safe than sorry. The designs include Donkey, Puss in Boots, Shrek and Princess Fiona. If you have them in your house do not let your family drink from them.

No Known Incidents Reported.

Hey it's too soon to know the effects!

Just because there are no known incidents doesn't mean that these are safe to use. It can take time for the effects to show and it's best to not take any chances. Would you really take a chance at poisoning yourself over some glasses? This is labeled as a voluntary recall, but should be taken serious. They are recalling over 12 million glasses.

Does This Recall Change Your View Of Mcdonalds?

Items like this should be tested a bit more thoroughly for harmful chemicals and metals. We've all been affected in one way or another by recalls that involve toys and this is no less scary. Does this make you think twice about buying toys and glasses from Mcdonalds?

somedude says:

I keep mine in a plastic bag and I try not to touch it too often. It may be valuable to some collecters I am looking it up now.

ronald says:

At the time the glasses were made the cadmiun level in the paint was below acceptable levels.

Will They Reissue New Glasses?

Shrek Forever After Recalled GlassCurrently I don't know, but I am really hoping that they do. I will surely miss my Puss In Boots Glass! That kitty is so adorable. I will post update once I find out any new information about a reissue. Update: Currently they will not be reissuing the glasses. Reselling an item that is recalled is against the law so don't try it.

According To McDonald's The Glasses Were Made In The USA.

Hard to believe.

We're not perfect and neither is China where the lead paint recalls came from. It's a huge pill to swallow when we all cried out in fear when we found lead in our children's toys that were made in China. Who will we blame for the Cadmium tainted glassware? McDonald's has a website up saying that the glassware is non toxic, but I don't buy it. How is it ok to have Cadmium in the paint? If they were sure it wasn't toxic then they should just stick by that claim and not speak of a recall on one side of their mouth and have the other side saying it's really safe.

What To Do With The Glasses.

Wait until June 8th to find out apparently.

McDonald's is telling the consumer to wait until June 8th for their instructions for getting your money back. The stores do not know what to do and most likely will not give you a refund. We're told to not even take them to the stores. They have a website that will tell you how to get your refund. It won't have that information until June 8th though. Check it out here

Refund Instructions For Shrek Forever After Glasses.

McDonald's has updated their site with instructions on how to get a refund. You'll have to wait until June 9th though. All you have to do is bring your glass or glasses into your local McDonald's and fill out a brief refund slip and you'll get $3. No receipt needed. That's one dollar more than you paid, but of course most of us had to pay sales tax so that makes up for it. I don't care for the refund slip, but I guess they need a record of the refund.
