Siamese cats have a body that varies anywhere from white to cream color with a darker face mask, ears, legs, and tail. They always have blue eyes. When they are born, they are almost all white all over and they start to develop their darker points later. They are my favorite cat breed because you can train them like dogs and they need a lot of attention. There are longhaired cats such as Himalayans, Balinese, and Birmans that were bred from Siamese.

Cat Owner Poll
Choosing Your Cat or Kitten

After you have decided to get a Siamese, you need to choose if you want a kitten or a cat. A baby will require more attention than an adult will. An advantage is the baby will be more receptive to learning new things. A mature adult is more likely to be set in his ways. If you don't have the time to work with a kitten, you should get a cat. Unless you intend to breed, male or female doesn't matter. You can get him or her from a responsible pet shop, breeder, breed rescue group, or an animal shelter. You should wait for the right one that is exactly what you are looking for because he or she will live with you for many years.
Seal Point

The one on the right is a seal point. They have a cream color body with very dark brown or black ears, face mask, legs, and tail and blue eyes. They are the most popular Siamese color. The one on the left is a tabby point. They have a cream color body with striped lines on their ears, face mask, legs, and tail and blue eyes.
Feeding

Cats and kittens should be fed a balanced diet that is high in protein. They enjoy a varied diet. Dry food, canned food, and some good quality healthy people food should be offered. You should not feed him or her bones that can splinter and become stuck in their throat. Babies should be allowed to eat as much as they want so they will grow up healthy. If they eat an excessive amount of food for their size, they could have worms. If your adult becomes overweight, give him or her less food.
Chocolate Point

The chocolate point has a body color that varies from pure white to ivory with a beautiful chocolate brown color on the ears, face mask, legs, and tail. They have blue eyes.
Training and Grooming

Your kitten should be trained to use a litter pan by the time you bring him home, but if he has not been trained, just put him in the pan several times a day and he should learn quickly. Cats need to trim their claws by scratching. They should be taught to use a scratching post instead of your furniture. A very important vocal command to learn is the word no. You should not hit them. If they need more discipline than the word no, you can squirt water at them. You should also teach them their name and the word come.
Siamese cats learn quickly. They can learn to walk on a leash and do tricks and they will follow you around like a dog and beg you for attention by meowing loudly. Kittens should be introduced to grooming when they are young. They should be brushed daily to prevent hairballs from forming in their stomach when they lick themselves. You can trim their front claws with nail clippers if you want to. It is not a good idea to declaw, because it will leave them defenseless and they will start to bite. You should also check their skin for parasites and check their ears for ear mites at grooming time.
Blue Point

The blue point has a body color that varies from cream to a light bluish gray with a darker bluish gray color on the ears, face mask, legs, and tail. They have blue eyes.
Health and Vet Care

You need to find a vet for your new cat or kitten and you should keep all of their health records. It is best to keep your cat in the house and only let him or her outside when closely supervised, if you must do it. There are too many dangers to let them run loose outside such as dogs and cars, and they can pick up respiratory diseases, rabies, and other things.
Colorpoint Shorthairs

Some people from clubs, groups, and cat shows think that only Seal, Blue, and Chocolate points are true Siamese colors. Other clubs, groups, and cat shows recognize Tabby, Tortie, Red, Cream, and Albino colors as true accepted colors also. That is why these colors are sometimes known as Colorpoint Shorthairs.

From Wikipedia
The Siamese is one of the first distinctly recognised breeds of Oriental cat. The exact origins of the breed are unknown, but it is believed to be from Southeast Asia, and is said to be descended from the sacred temple cats of Siam (now Thailand). http://aboutsiamesecats.com
In Thailand, where they are one of several native breeds, they are called Wichien-maat (??????????, a name meaning "Moon diamond"). In the twentieth century the Siamese cat became one of the most popular breeds in Europe and North America.

- I think Siamese cats are so beautiful -- we've seen several that have come and gone through our back yard and as part of the feral colony. This takes me to one Sunday evening when we were driving home through our community -- I made my hubby back up when I saw one of the Siamese cats on the side of the road. Someone had hit it and left it!!!! I was sick to my stomach about this--how someone could just leave it. We got a large box, picked it up and headed back out, making phone calls to find a vet animal hospital to take it to -- on a Sunday evening. After several phone calls, we found an emergency hospital near downtown. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for this poor cat -- we had to pay to have it put to sleep -- I will NEVER forget this experience and WONDER who left it there on the side of the road.

- I have had Siamese cats for 45 years. I really hate that Disney song cuz it makes people think Siamese are aloof--so far from the truth. My Seal Point was very interested in the mewing videos, the others were too, but special for Broderick.
I never forgave Disney for Bambi either.

- Awwww...I sure enjoyed this lens. I have 8 cats, but none are Siamese. We had a Siamese when I was a child. He was a great companion. He used to hide and jump out at me and my mom said I would scream (I don't remember it). Ha, ha! Cats are such fun!

- My first cat was Siamese. Her name was Jezebel, and she was quite charismatic and adventurous, although perhaps not as bright as her sister Harriet (my mother's cat). Harriet was "the ugly one" -- sort of scruffy and squat -- but she was sharp. I could swear she understood everything my mother said to her.
