Siberian Kittens

This lens is all about Siberian Kittens! My name is Miakoschka and I am the first breeder of Siberian Cats in Australia, so I promise you, I know these beautiful cats well!

I will be going over some basics that you need tonow about the beautiful breed of Siberian Cats. Once you decide that you would like to have a Siberian Cat you will need to consider some of the basic requirements that you will need to have ready to bring your little kitten home.

All Siberian Kittens usually leave the premises of a good breeder in a suitable cat cage (this means you will need to bring one when you are picking your kitten up). This is for the safety and comfort of your Kitten on its trip to its new home. If you do not have one, ask your breeder if he/she has one hand that are airline approved, if you are getting your own, there are many colors and styles to choose from.

A nice comfy bed is key to helping your little Siberian Kitten settle, there are many good brands such as Pet Snugs which is one of the best beds you will find around. A good Cat bed can be placed into the dryer to dry or simply sit outdoors on a chair to air dry.

They need to be comfortably padded so that your Siberian Cat will love to be in them, its also nice if they fit into the cat cages so when traveling or sending by air they can be inserted for the comfort of the kitten on its journey.

Furniture :) We all know how cats are! To protect your furniture a good sturdy scratching post is a necessity to have ready and a good pet store will have many on hand. It is a good idea to collect one BEFORE you collect your new Siberian Kitten.While you are at the pet store, don't forget to purchase a selection of simple toys for your kitten to amuse themselves with when you are away from the home.

Siberians Kittens loooove to play and will fetch and carry for you if you spend the time with them and train them to do so... They are extremely intelligent and are fast learners. At my home we have lots of ping pong balls around the place, also little mice are a favorite. Other great toys include strips of sheepskin, which I see carried all over my place! Balls of all types can be chased and most anything with feathers on it is great.

It is important to provide clean bowls for all meals. One good option is to use big ceramic bowls for water as this keeps the water nice and cool. Be sure to check they have fresh water at all times... Oh yeah did I mention the Siberians love to play in water!!!

FOODS - For wet food I use stainless steel bowls instead of plastic as they can be placed into the dishwasher for sterilization. A good Siberian kitten breeder will give their cats a comprehensive diet and should provide you with a care sheet advising you of to feed your Kitten and the types of food offered. It is a good idea to adhere to this diet as closely as possible so that your Siberian does not have to try to adjust too quickly to different foods that they are not used to eating as this can create tummy upsets as this can be distressing for them. A good brand of dry food is recommended. A lot of supermarket varieties are not complete foods and are not balanced enough to use for everyday food.
