Kicked by the boot of Italy: Sicily!
icily is an island of countless harbors, endless valleys and skyscraping mountains, which have been inhabited by African, Asian and Greek civilizations throughout history. Sicilians farm an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits, such as tomatoes, artichokes, eggplant, olives, olive oil and beans, all vibrant in taste and often paired with freshly caught seafood from the coast.
Sicily has (perhaps unfairly) a reputation as the black sheep of the Italian family, but all one has to do is go there to be swayed in a different direction. Sicily quietly houses just as many spectacular examples of art, people, food, architecture and beautiful vistas as anywhere else in Italy. All of this beauty awaits the adventurous traveler.
