The new Sidekick 4 is the latest and greatest member of the Tmobile Sidekick family. The Sidekick 4 has a variety of improvements over the Sidekick 3. These include the better WQVGA 3? screen manufactured by Sharp. The screen has 65,000 colors and has a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels. The screen is so bright that even during the day time it can be easily read without using any additional battery power. The screen when opened swivels in lieu of sliding (as in the Sidekick 3) and locks solidly exposing the keyboard. The Sidekick 4 also includes mood lighting. The user can set specific colors to flash for certain events such as incoming call or text message. The Sidekick 4 upgraded the messaging application and has the ability to send picture messages as well as just text messages. The music player can now play music in the background even while the phone is in use.

The layout of the Sidekick 4 includes the same navigation layout as the Sidekick 3. The roller ball, send/end keys, x, and check keys on the right hand side of the phone. The main menu jump button, standard menu button, USB charging port, and 3.5 mm headset jack are located on the left side of the phone. The volume key and the on/off button are on the bottom of the phone. The top of the phone includes the left and right shoulder buttons.

The Sidekick 4 also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera with an LED flash, Bluetooth capable, external caller id, speaker phone, quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), SD card slot for expanded memory, and improved music player. The music player is easy to use and provides the ability to have several views such as album, artist, genre, etc. You can also queue music as you are browsing through the library. The music can be listened to via the external speaker as well as through headphones via the 3.5 mm jack.

The Sidekick 4 measures 5.2" x 2.4" x 0.7" and weighs 5.8 ounces. Its now slim enough to fit into your pocket. The 1540 mAh battery provides up to 6 hours of talking time or 4 days of standby time.
