Looking For Autism Awareness products?

Zazzle has a lot of customizable autism awareness products!

The problem I have found with so many Autism awareness designs is that many of them are such bold and bright colors that people may purchase them but opt not to wear them as they are not always "stylish" and often come on baggy t-shirts that not everyone wants to go out in- if people do not want to wear them, then they can't really raise awareness.

There are some good ones out there, don't get me wrong and lots of people DO look good in these colors (I know that I don't- I'm just too pale!)... it is just SO very hard to make primary colored puzzle pieces attractive to EVERYONE!

That in mind- I started a store at Zazzle- yes I am creating a lot of the traditional primary color items, but as I learn and continue experimenting with software I am trying to grow my collection to include bold yet not too bright colors, cool effects, pastels, and different shapes and themes!

Random thought...Ever wonder what Sidther means?
When I first tried to start a website years ago I had the sole intention of helping neurotypical people understand more about autism. Then I saw a click box that asked if I wanted to "monetize the site". We needed money, I had no idea if I would ever make any (still have only earned $4.58 to date) BUT I know exactly what it will be used for. Now I am hoping to earn enough to get Cutie long term sensory integration therapy- a friend who is an OT used to provide it, but the military moves us a lot and it is NOT covered. So, Sidther is the Sensory Integration Dysfunction THERapy that I am saving up for!

I did get a bit sidetracked when I learned how to do a couple of cool things so there are a couple of non ASD items (they were just too fun to make!). I am adding to the collection daily so please come back later if you don't find what you are looking for today!

Here are a few of my Autism Awareness t-shirts, hoodies and tank tops using fractal flame designs, puzzlepieces and the puzzlefly!

Autism Awareness Buttons

Some of these autism awareness buttons can act as an alert during certain events such as Halloween, the 4th of July and more! The buttons let people know that the child suffers from sensory problems and that certain stimuli like fireworks and strobe lighting may cause the child to behave oddly or have a meltdown. These are all customizable so you can add your cell phone number in case you get separated from your child during the event!

Sadly, I have had to include "Stop using the R word" as insults to the special needs community continue to be a problem- in fact it is more of a problem now than ever. Please ask people you know to stop using the R word.

Developmental Records Binder binder
Developmental Records Binder by Sidther
View more Special Binders

Children with autism generally reach their developmental milestones late. Once a child has been diagnosed with autism, parents must keep track of their child's developmental progress by holding on to copies of evaluations, doctor's notes, school notes and evaluations, IEPs, ARD notes, medication lists and more.

Keeping track of all of these things can get confusing as many of the papers must be brought to appointments and meetings as there are usually SO many professionals who must compare notes with one another to ensure that the child is receiving ALL of the help that can be offered. Most parents of kids with autism carry around "the book" .

When I looked at my son's ratty old unattractive binder, I decided to make some cute customizable binders that also have helpful reminders for my family, then I thought I would create a large selection for everyone!

The Back of the binder has a list of things that parents usually intend to discuss or bring to appointments that often, they forget to address with everything else going on.

These Autism awareness and behavioral information cards are becoming a popular way to deal with onlookers who make rude comments when a child with autism either melts down or begins the robotic movements. With Autism cards, you are able to shush them quickly while remaining attentive and engaged in using behavioral modification techniques with your child.Autism Awareness card profilecard

Visual Cues Cards for giving gifts to loved ones with Autism

or other neurological disorders

Visual cues greeting cards are simple to customize... simply replace the "your image here" with your image and change the text to say your name and then do the same for the recipient's image and name!

The visual cues may seem odd to those who are not familiar with visual cues systems as most cards state who the gift is going to THEN who it is from...

With visual cues, the child is taught to look at them from left to right. Kids with autism also have a tendency to do things in very specific orders- naturally it is easier to visualize this way. Imagine the gift itself. It does not start in the recipient's hands and trace itself back to the giver- it starts in the hands of the giver who places it in the hands of the recipient, that is why the visual cues greeting cards are set up this way!

Cutie has gotten a kick out of it too!

See the handprint?

Cutie made me a very nice handprint so that I could use it in some designs- don't get any ides if you are an identity thief- his fingerprints etc were completely removed- the corrected image printed and then scanned back in, and then blurred and painted over again....

Cutie would like to make a calendar for teachers so he is coloring away and wants to scan them in when he is done! He has also enjoyed scribbling on the computer and warping and recoloring images!

I also want to add a few for people with Autism or Aspergers to wear

So far I have a shirt that states "I have autism and I'm smarter than you. Was that socially inappropriate?" and a few little buttons- I was inspired to make them after a child called Cutie "stupid" and cutie replied with the above phrase! I also have a few simple buttons.

I really love the green mousepad you show below (perhaps it deserves to be up higher in your lens)? Cutie couldn't be luckier to have as his mom. Hope your hubby is safe and sound and back home often. Love always, Rose
